Effects of the substitution rate of natural gas on the combustion and emission characteristics in a dual-fuel engine under full load

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
Diesel-piloted natural gas has been considered one of the most promising methods of using natural gas in a compression–ignition engine with few modifications, as this approach benefits from a high thermal efficiency resulting from a high compression ...

Synthesis of β-triazolylenones via metal-free desulfonylative alkylation of N-tosyl-1,2,3-triazoles

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2021
Desulfonylative alkylation of N-tosyl-1,2,3-triazoles under metal-free conditions leading to β-triazolylenones is reported here. The present study encompasses the synthesis of triazoles with a new substitution pattern in a single step from cyclic 1,3 ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Ruthenium-Catalyzed Vinylic Substitution Reactions with Nucleophiles via Butatrienylidene Intermediates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Novel ruthenium-catalyzed vinylic substitution reactions of vinylic trifluoromethanesulfonates with nucleophiles such as cyclic 1,3-diketones and alcohols have been found to give the corresponding vinylic-substituted products in good to high yields. This

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Arylboronic acid-catalysed dehydrative substitution of alcohols [PDF]

open access: yes
This thesis is focused on the investigation of new procedures for the activation of alcohols towards dehydrative nucleophilic substitution reaction that release water as the sole by- product using commercially available arylboronic acids as catalysts.

Reações de oxidação de derivados de cis-octalinas promovidas por trinitrato de tálio (TTN) Oxidation reactions of derivatives of cis-octalins promoted by thallium trinitrate (TTN)

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2008
The reaction of ten cis-octalins and cis-octalones with thallium trinitrate (TTN) leads to different products, depending mainly on the substitution pattern of the substrate. Functionalized cis-hydrindanes were obtained from the reaction of 1,2,3,4,4a,5,8,

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
