Mechanistic insight of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 in modulating lung cancer growth
Lung harbors the growth of primary and secondary tumors. Even though numerous factors regulate the complex signal transduction and cytoskeletal remodeling toward the progression of lung cancer, cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5), a previously known kinase ...

Phosphorylation of drebrin by cyclin-dependent kinase 5 and its role in neuronal migration. [PDF]
Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5)-p35 is a proline-directed Ser/Thr kinase which plays a key role in neuronal migration, neurite outgrowth, and spine formation during brain development.

Cyclin C: The Story of a Non-Cycling Cyclin
The class I cyclin family is a well-studied group of structurally conserved proteins that interact with their associated cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) to regulate different stages of cell cycle progression depending on their oscillating expression ...

The Duality of Cdk5: A Master Regulator in Neurodevelopment and a Hijacked Oncogene in Cancer
Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) is an atypical serine/threonine kinase distinct from classical cell cycle regulators. Its activity is highest in the nervous system and essential for development, but its functions in other tissues, particularly in cancer,

Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 5 in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a neurological disorder that selectively affects motor neurons of brain and spinal cord. Emerging evidence indicates an involvement of the serine/threonine-cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) in the pathogenesis. Deregulation of Cdk5 by its truncated co-activators, p25 and p29, contributes to neurodegeneration by altering ...

This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Cyclin-dependent Kinase 5: Novel role of gene variants identified in ADHD
Cortical neuronal migration and formation of filamentous actin cytoskeleton, needed for development, normal cell growth and differentiation, are regulated by the cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5).

Crosstalk between Cdk5 and GSK3β: Implications for Alzheimer's Disease
GSK3β and Cdk5 are the two kinases in the center of research on Alzheimer's disease (AD), involved in the pathological symptoms of AD, Aβ plaque formation, tau hyperphosphorylation and neurodegeneration.

Summary: HIV-1-negative factor (Nef) protein antagonizes serine incorporator 5 (SERINC5) by redirecting this potent restriction factor to the endosomes and lysosomes for degradation. However, the precise mechanism remains unclear.

Activation of Cyclin‐Dependent Kinase 5 Is a Consequence of Cell Death [PDF]
Cyclin‐dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) is similar to other Cdks but is activated during cell differentiation and cell death rather than cell division. Since activation of Cdk5 has been reported in many situations leading to cell death, we attempted to determine if it was required for any form of cell death.
