Rapid Breast Cancer Disease Progression Following Cyclin Dependent Kinase 4 and 6 Inhibitor Discontinuation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: CDK 4 and 6 inhibitors (CDK4/6i), which arrest unregulated cancer cell proliferation, show clinical efficacy in breast cancer. Unexpectedly, a patient treated on a CDK4/6i-based trial, as first-line therapy in metastatic breast cancer ...

Shenyuan granules improve cellular senescence through Klotho-mediated p16/p21 signaling pathway in diabetic kidney disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
ContextShenyuan Granules (SYG), a traditional Chinese medicine preparation, are clinically used for treating chronic kidney diseases. However, the role of Klotho in modulating cellular senescence via the p16/p21 pathway and its involvement in the ...

TUMOR SUPPRESSING FUNCTIONS OF p16INK4a - A REVIEW

open access: yesJournal of Dentistry Indonesia, 2015
DNA damage can have particularly severe carcinogenic influence if it incapacitates the cellular machinery normally protecting the cell from the effects of genomic damage. The protective functions involve not only DNA repair and apoptosis (programmed cell

The novel histone deacetylase inhibitor, AR-42, inhibits gp130/Stat3 pathway and induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in multiple myeloma cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Multiple myeloma (MM) remains incurable with current therapy, indicating the need for continued development of novel therapeutic agents. We evaluated the activity of a novel phenylbutyrate-derived histone deacetylase inhibitor, AR-42, in primary human ...

Evaluation of prognostic histological parameters proposed for pleural mesothelioma in diffuse malignant peritoneal mesothelioma. A short report

open access: yesDiagnostic Pathology, 2021
Introduction Diffuse malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (DMPM) is a rare malignant neoplasm with poor survival that shares some similarities with the best-known pleural variant, pleural mesothelioma.

Comprehensive Analysis Revealed that CDKN2A is a Biomarker for Immune Infiltrates in Multiple Cancers

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
The CDKN2A (cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor 2A/multiple tumor suppressor 1) gene, also known as the P16 gene, encodes multiple tumor suppressor 1 (MTS1), which belongs to the INK4 family.

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Spermidine induces cytoprotective autophagy of female germline stem cells in vitro and ameliorates aging caused by oxidative stress through upregulated sequestosome-1/p62 expression

open access: yesCell & Bioscience, 2021
Background Autophagy is required for oogenesis and plays a critical role in response to aging caused by oxidative stress. However, there have been no reports on regulation of cytoprotective autophagy in female germline stem cells (FGSCs) in response to ...

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Methylation of tumour suppressor genes in benign and malignant salivary gland tumours: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesEpigenetics, 2022
The aim of the present systematic review was to critically analyse the relationship between tumour suppressor genes (TSGs) promoter methylation, a potent mechanism of gene silencing, and the development of salivary gland tumours, as well as the possible ...
