The Effects of Dietary Administration of Vitamin D on UVB Induced Skin Inflammation and Carcinogenesis [PDF]
In today's world, many people are deficient in vitamin D. Increased sun exposure acts as a mechanism to increase vitamin D levels, and studies have shown that optimal amounts of vitamin D can reduce the risk of internal cancers.

Intermolecular Enantioselective Nickel‐Catalyzed Arylation of Un‐Activated C(sp3)─H Bond
Ni: a new solution for asymmetric C(sp3)─H activation. The stereoselective synthesis of all‐carbon quaternary stereogenic centres is achieved via enantioselective C(sp3)─H arylation using a Ni‐BINOL‐derived catalyst. Rational catalytic cycle design uncovers a new reaction pathway that can efficiently induce chiral information during the stereoselective

Strained spirocyclic spiro[2.3]hexane and its heteroatom‐containing derivatives, including previously underrepresented 5‐oxa‐1‐azaspiro[2.3]hexanes and 1,5‐diazaspiro[2.3]hexanes, were synthesized via a modular approach of insertion of cyclobutane‐, oxetane‐, and azetidine‐containing sulfonium reagents into alkenes, carbonyls and imines.

Dynamics and mechanism of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimer repair by DNA photolyase [PDF]
Mathematical and Physical Sciences: 2nd Place (The Ohio State University Edward F. Hayes Graduate Research Forum)Photolyase uses blue light to restore the major ultraviolet (UV)-induced DNA damage, the cyclobutane pyrimidine dimer (CPD), to two normal ...

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

A radical cascade process involving the activation of two aliphatic C–H bonds in a series of five elementary steps converts readily available terminal alkynes into functionalized cyclopentylmethyl arylsulfones. The methodology delivers flexible synthetic intermediates and was applied to the preparation of diquinanes and triquinanes possessing a rare ...

A systematic study of a series of porous organic cages with perfluorinated alkyl side‐chains of different lengths is presented. The structure‐property relationship of the various cages on gas sorption of highly potent greenhouse gases, such as perfluorocarbons (PFCs), sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), and nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) is investigated.

A modular approach to prepare enantioenriched cyclobutanes: synthesis of (+)-rumphellaone A [PDF]
A modular synthesis of enantioenriched polyfunctionalized cyclobutanes was developed that features an 8-aminoquinolinamide directed C–H arylation reaction. The C–H arylation products were derivatized through subsequent decarboxylative coupling processes.

CuH‐Catalyzed Asymmetric Desymmetrization of Cyclobutenes via Stereodivergent Hydroamination
The CuH‐catalyzed stereodivergent hydroamination through asymmetric desymmetrization of cyclobutenes has been achieved, yielding a range of trisubstituted aminocyclobutanes with excellent results. A series of subsequent transformations, including the first asymmetric synthesis of two pharmaceutically active molecules, have been realized, and density ...
