Abstract We use Particle‐In‐Cell (PIC) simulations to investigate the charging characteristics inside deep cavities on the lunar surface under the solar wind plasma conditions. Specifically, we systematically study the dependence of the cavity bottom potential on plasma flow velocity and cavity aspect ratio.

The Importance of Pickup H+ Escape at Mars
Abstract The loss of hydrogen ions on Mars to space largely occurs through the interaction of solar wind with planetary atmosphere. However, the relative importance of different ion escape channels is not yet fully understood. In addition, there are still open questions about the proportion of H+ ${\mathrm{H}}^{+}$ escape in relation to total hydrogen ...

Explores for the source of the gears in traditional Japanese clock (Wadokei)
The purpose of this study is to understand the nature of one of the oldest gears used in traditional Japanese clock. Today's gear manufacturing technology in Japan came mostly from Europe and America, but we do not know exactly, when and how the ...

Theoretical and Experimental Study for An Improved Cycloid Drive Model
AbstractThis paper describes an experimental and theoretical approach to evaluate cycloid drive reducer efficiency. The tests are carried out on 7.5 kW two-disc cycloid drive with a gear ratio of 19. The torque and speed are measured on the input and output shaft. The efficiency is calculated based on the obtained results.

Investigation and Compensation of Hysteresis in Robot Joints with Cycloidal Drives
AbstractImproving the dynamic path accuracy has been a major research topic in industrial robotics for decades. It is known that the drivetrains installed in the robot joints limit further improvements. There is a lot more literature on the dynamic behavior of harmonic drives (HDs) than for cycloidal drives (CDs), that are usually installed in ...
