Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Production of lipid mediators across different disease stages of dextran sodium sulfate-induced colitis in mice

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2018
Although several studies have revealed the role of different lipid mediators in colitis, the comprehensive analysis of their production across different phases of colitis remained unclear.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

New Cyclooxygenase Inhibitors

open access: yesAnnals of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, 2001
Introduction: The discovery of the two isoforms of cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) has paved the way for the development of a new class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The COX-2 inhibitors have shown comparable efficacy to the traditional NSAIDs with less gastrointestinal side effects in major clinical studies.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Beta-adrenergic receptor stimulation, histamine receptor inhibition, and potassium channel opening contribute to the relaxant effects of crocetin on airway smooth muscle [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences
Objective(s): In the present study, the relaxant effect of crocetin on tracheal smooth muscle cells (TSM) and its possible mechanisms were evaluated.Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on 54 male Wistar rats in 8 groups.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Differences in the Thoracic Aorta by Region and Sex in a Murine Model of Marfan Syndrome

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2017
Marfan syndrome (MFS) is a hereditary disorder of the connective tissue that causes life-threatening aortic aneurysm, which initiates at the aortic root and can progress into the ascending portion.

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...
