Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Effect of Cyclooxygenase(COX)-1 and COX-2 inhibition on furosemide-induced renal responses and isoform immunolocalization in the healthy cat kidney [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: The role of cyclooxygenase(COX)-1 and COX-2 in the saluretic and renin-angiotensin responses to loop diuretics in the cat is unknown. We propose in vivo characterisation of isoform roles in a furosemide model by administering non-steroidal ...

Value of COX-2 and HER-2 in Judging Condition and Prognosis in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients

open access: yesCancer Biology & Medicine, 2010
OBJECTIVE To investigate the expressions of cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and their clinical significance in identifying the progression and prognosis of the NSCLC ...

Cyclooxygenase‐2 in oligodendroglial neoplasms [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 2003
AbstractBACKGROUNDAlthough increased expression of cyclooxygenase‐2 (COX‐2) has been described in association with a variety of neoplasms, including tumors of astrocytic derivation, limited data are available on COX‐2 expression in oligodendrogliomas.METHODSThe current study retrospectively reviewed 53 oligodendrogliomas and 7 oligodendroglioma ...

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Platelet activation and lipid peroxidation in patients with acute ischemic stroke [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Both platelet activation and lipid peroxidation are potential sources of vasoactive eicosanoids that can be produced via the cyclooxygenase pathway, ie, thromboxane (TX) A2, or by free radical-catalyzed peroxidation of arachidonic

Significance of cyclooxygenase-2 in oncogenesis

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Research, 2019
The cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme catalyses the first stage of biosynthesis of prostanoids, proteins that are implicated in various physiological and pathological processes in humans and animals.

Development of machine learning models integrating PET/CT radiomic and immunohistochemical pathomic features for treatment strategy choice of cervical cancer with negative pelvic lymph node by mediating COX-2 expression

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
Objectives: We aimed to establish machine learning models based on texture analysis predicting pelvic lymph node metastasis (PLNM) and expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in cervical cancer with PET/CT negative pelvic lymph node (PLN).Methods: Eight ...

Cyclooxygenase-2-mediated DNA Damage [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2005
Rat intestinal epithelial cells that express the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) gene permanently (RIES cells) were used as a model of in vivo oxidative stress. A targeted lipidomics approach showed that 15(S)-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (15(S)-HETE) was the major hydroxylated non-esterified lipid formed in unstimulated intact cells.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.
