Lipopolysaccharide is an inflammatory agent and interleukin-1 is a cytokine. Their pro-inflammatory effects may be mediated by prostanoids produced by inducible cyclooxygenase-2.

2-arylbenzofuran-containing compounds are chemical entities that can be naturally produced by several organisms. A wide-range of activities is described for several compounds of this kind and they are, therefore, valuable moieties for a lead finding from

Canonical Forms of $2 \times 2 \times 2$ and $2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2$ Symmetric Tensors over Prime Fields [PDF]
We consider symmetric tensors of format $2 \times 2 \times 2$ and $2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2$ over prime fields. Using computer algebra we compute the canonical forms of these tensors. For $2 \times 2 \times 2$ symmetric tensors, we consider the prime fields $\mathbb{F}_p$ for $p = 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17$.

Selective inhibition of inducible cyclooxygenase 2 in vivo is antiinflammatory and nonulcerogenic.
We have examined the role of cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) in a model of inflammation in vivo. Carrageenan administration to the subcutaneous rat air pouch induces a rapid inflammatory response characterized by high levels of prostaglandins (PGs) and ...

Cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors: promise or peril?
The discovery of two isoforms of the cyclooxygenase enzyme, COX-1 and COX-2, and the development of COX-2-specific inhibitors as anti-inflammatories and analgesics have offered great promise that the therapeutic benefits of NSAIDs could be optimized ...

Results from our previous studies demonstrated that activation of Toll-like receptor 4 (Tlr4), the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) receptor, is sufficient to induce nuclear factor κB activation and expression of inducible cyclooxygenase (COX-2) in macrophages ...

Phosphatidylinositol transfer protein α regulates growth and apoptosis of NIH3T3 cells
Mouse fibroblast cells overexpressing phosphatidylinositol transfer protein α [PI-TPα; sense PI-TPα (SPIα) cells] show a significantly increased rate of proliferation and an extreme resistance toward ultraviolet- or tumor necrosis factor-α-induced ...

Human Intelectin-1 (hITL-1) as Modulator of Metabolic Syndrome (MetS): An In Silico Study
Human intelectin-1 (hITL-1) has been known to be involved in diseases such as asthma, cancer, metabolic disorders, and inflammatory bowel disease. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate hITL-1 as modulator of metabolic syndrome (MetS) using an in ...
