The synthesis of 2‐methyl propellane and its conversion to various 1,2‐ and 1,2,3‐di‐ and trisubstituted bicyclopentanes is reported. Abstract Bicyclo[1.1.1]pentanes (BCPs) have emerged as isosteric replacements for mono‐ and para‐substituted benzene rings in medicinal and materials applications, involving substitution at the BCP bridgehead (1,3 ...

Synthesis of a novel chemotype via sequential metal-catalyzed cycloisomerizations
Sequential cycloisomerizations of diynyl o-benzaldehyde substrates to access novel polycyclic cyclopropanes are reported. The reaction sequence involves initial Cu(I)-mediated cycloisomerization/nucleophilic addition to an isochromene followed by ...

A SmI2/Sm‐mediated silacyclization unlocks a concise route to 4–7‐membered silacycles from simple unsaturated substrates and dichlorosilanes/disilanes. The complementary functions of samarium reductants trigger a reductive radical–polar crossover, offering a versatile strategy for constructing multiple Si─C bonds efficiently.

Strained spirocyclic spiro[2.3]hexane and its heteroatom‐containing derivatives, including previously underrepresented 5‐oxa‐1‐azaspiro[2.3]hexanes and 1,5‐diazaspiro[2.3]hexanes, were synthesized via a modular approach of insertion of cyclobutane‐, oxetane‐, and azetidine‐containing sulfonium reagents into alkenes, carbonyls and imines.

P450-catalyzed asymmetric cyclopropanation of electron-deficient olefins under aerobic conditions [PDF]
A variant of P450 from Bacillus megaterium five mutations away from wild type is a highly active catalyst for cyclopropanation of a variety of acrylamide and acrylate olefins with ethyl diazoacetate (EDA).

The ionization of anthracene, acridine, and phenazine has been explored, along with the removal of one and two hydrogen atoms, to provide valuable information for astrochemists and to understand the behavior of the resulting structures and their electronic reorganization. Abstract In this study, we systematically explored the stability and isomerism of

Synthesis of novel β-aminocyclobutanecarboxylic acid derivatives by a solvent-free aza-Michael addition and subsequent ring closure [PDF]
Novel beta-aminocyclobutanecarboxylic acid derivatives were prepared via a sequential solvent-free aza-Michael addition of benzophenone imine across 3-halopropylidenemalonates and base-induced ring closure.

Phakopsora pachyrhizi in Paraguay showed diverse resistance to DMI, SDHI, and QoI fungicides at both regional and intra‐field levels, likely driven by target mutation genes. Abstract BACKGROUND Phakopsora pachyrhizi, the causative agent of Asian soybean rust, poses a major threat to soybean production in South America. The rising incidence of fungicide

Synthesis of organic liquid crystals containing selectively fluorinated cyclopropanes
This paper describes the synthesis of a series of organic liquid crystals (LCs) containing selectively fluorinated cyclopropanes at their termini. The syntheses used difluorocarbene additions to olefin precursors, an approach which proved straightforward
