Variation in Woody Species Abundance and Distribution in and around Kibale National Park, Uganda

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Several protected areas in Uganda are increasingly facing encroachment making farmlands indispensable hubs for biodiversity conservation. A comparative study was conducted comprising a protected area in Kibale National Park and surrounding farmlands to establish how farmlands mimic the forest floristic structure.

Artificial rainfall patterns alter non‐structural carbohydrate allocation to modulate growth and eco‐stoichiometry in Cyphomandra betacea seedlings

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 487-497, March 2026.
Changes in rainfall patterns severely affect plant growth. Cyphomandra betacea seedlings adapt to such changes by adjusting inter‐organ biomass allocation, dynamically regulating stoichiometric characteristics, and non‐structural carbohydrate allocation.

Survey of the Aphid Parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Aphidiinae) of Costa Rica with Information on Their Aphid (Hemiptera: Aphidoidea): Plant Associations

open access: yesPsyche: A Journal of Entomology, Volume 2010, Issue 1, 2010., 2010
Species of Aphidiinae (Braconidae) have never been surveyed in Central America. Here we present the results of an initial inventory of the aphidiine species of Costa Rica and record the presence of ten species (four undetermined), in six genera. The material was obtained by rearing aphids from both crop and noncrop plants throughout the country.

Melatonin-mediated protection of photosynthetic attributes in Cyphomandra betacea Sendt. seedlings under selenium stress

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Cyphomandra betacea Sendt. is a typical non-selenium (Se) hyperaccumulator, the plant growth is inhibited in high Se-contaminated soils. This study investigated the salutary effect of melatonin (MT) in alleviating Se stress (0.1 mg L−1 Na2SeO3 treatment)

Commodity risk assessment of Petunia spp. and Calibrachoa spp. unrooted cuttings from Uganda

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to evaluate the likelihood of pest freedom at entry in the EU, including both regulated and non‐regulated pests, potentially associated with unrooted cuttings of the genera Petunia and Calibrachoa produced under physical isolation in Uganda.

Relevance of unilateral and bilateral sexual polyploidization in relation to intergenomic recombination and introgression in Lilium species hybrids [PDF]

open access: yes
Sexual polyploids were induced in diploid (2n = 2x = 24) interspecific F1 hybrids of Longiflorum × Asiatic (LA) and Oriental × Asiatic (OA) Lilium hybrids by backcrossing to Asiatic (AA) parents as well as by sib-mating of the F1 LA hybrids.
