Disulfide interchange reactions between cystamine and cystine peptides

Analytical Biochemistry, 1971
Abstract A method is presented for carrying out interchange reactions on a small scale between cystamine and low molecular weight cystine peptides. The products of the reaction were separated from unchanged peptides and from excess cystamine by high-voltage electrophoresis on paper.

Electron Reactions in γ-Irradiated Thymidine and Cystamine

Nature, 1970
ALTHOUGH the technique of electron spin resonance (ESR) has been useful in the identification of some of the secondary radical species formed in γ-irradiated DNA and proteins, difficulties have been experienced in the interpretation of the spectra of the primary radiolytic products.

Formation of 5-S-cystamine-5,6-dihydrothymine in radiolysis of aqueous solutions of thymine and cystamine

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1984
1. A method for synthesis of 5-S-cystamine-5,6-dihydrothymine was developed. 2. This compound is stable in neutral and acid solutions but rapidly decomposes according to a first-order reaction at pH 10–12. It was found that decomposition is due to acidbase dissociation of 5-S-cystamine-5,6-dihydrothymine (pK ∼ 11.1) and that the rate of ...

[Cystamine and the chromosome vesting phenomenon].

Genetika, 1976
The effect of radioprotector cystamine on structural chromosome mutations induced in Crepis capillaris cells by gamma-rays 137Cs is studied. Cystamine at the concentration of 0,1% causes a two-fold decrease in the frequency of structural mutations. In the "vesting" phenomenon of ring chromosomes, under the same experimental conditions, it also leads to
