An Improved Two‐Step Collagenase Perfusion Protocol for Isolation of Mouse Primary Hepatocytes

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, Volume 2, Issue 4, Page 474-477, December 2025.
An improved two‐step protocol for isolation of mouse primary hepatocytes by inserting needles into the portal vein and cutting of the inferior vena cava. ABSTRACT In metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) or diabetes mechanistic studies, cellular experiments are frequently required.

Investigation of the association of cystathionine gamma-lyase (CTH) and vitamin D-binding protein (GC) genes polymorphisms with preeclampsia in some pregnant women attending prenatal care at a general hospital in Lagos Nigeria

open access: yesScience World Journal
Preeclampsia is associated with high maternal and foetal morbidity and mortality. Studies have demonstrated that polymorphisms in the genes that regulate vascular dynamics may play vital roles in the development of chronic hypertension and preeclampsia.

AMPK‐Dependent Epigenetic Regulation of Metabolism Mediates the Anti‐Cancer Action of Pterostilbene in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 69, Issue 23, December 2025.
This study investigates the anti‐cancer effects of pterostilbene (PTS), a naturally occurring dietary phytoestrogen, in a rat model of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) induced by a choline‐deficient L‐amino acid‐defined (CDAA) diet. Supplementation with PTS significantly reduces liver steatosis and tumor formation.

Caloric Restriction Reprograms Adipose Tissues in Rhesus Monkeys

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 12, December 2025.
Here we show shared and depot‐specific adaptations to life‐long CR in subcutaneous and visceral adipose depots from advanced‐age male rhesus monkeys. Transcriptomics reveal differences between the depots, as well as shared and distinct CR‐responsive pathways.

Hydrogen sulphide production in healthy and ulcerated gastric mucosa of rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) is produced endogenously via two enzymes dependent on pyridoxal phosphate (PLP): cystathionine beta-synthase (CBS, EC 4.2.1.22), cystathionase γ-liase (CTH, EC 4.4.1.1), and a third, 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (MPST, EC ...

Contrasting Effects of Probiotic Yogurt and Brown Yogurt on the Urinary Metabolites and Gut Microbial Function of Healthy Adults

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
We identified differing metabolic responses to different types of yogurt. Brown yogurt mainly modulated pathways associated with human and gut microbial ammonia metabolism, whereas probiotic yogurt mainly affected amino acid metabolism. ABSTRACT Consuming yogurt is beneficial for healthy people, but few studies have evaluated the interactions among ...

Breast Milk Proteome: Changes in the Different Stages of Lactation and Impacts of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and Body Mass Index

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 69, Issue 22, November 2025.
We analyzed colostrum and breast milk from 47 mothers to see how proteins change over time and with maternal health. Colostrum had more immune proteins, while mature milk had proteins linked to growth support. Gestational diabetes and higher BMI altered the protein composition.
