Identification of probasin-related antigen as cystathionine gamma-lyase by molecular cloning.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1994
We reported previously that a monoclonal antibody against probasin (rat prostatic secretory protein) recognizes a 40-kDa protein localized in rat liver and kidney. The protein (probasin-related antigen, PRB-RA) may participate in a specific differentiated function of these tissues.

Effect of cysteine on the inactivation of cystathionine gamma-lyase by D,L-propargylglycine.

open access: yesActa medica Okayama, 1989
In vivo inactivation of cystathionine gamma-lyase by D,L-propargylglycine, a suicide inhibitor, was found to be less profound in rat kidney than in the liver. We investigated the cause of this difference using rat tissues. We fractionated kidney extract to characterize the substance which protected enzyme, and found that cysteine exhibits protecting ...

Calcium Sensing Receptor Regulating Smooth Muscle Cells Proliferation Through Initiating Cystathionine-Gamma-Lyase/Hydrogen Sulfide Pathway in Diabetic Rat

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2015
Aims: Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) inhibits the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). However, how cystathionine-gamma-lyase (CSE), a major enzyme that produces H2S, is regulated remains unknown.

Allosteric activators of cystathionine γ lyase to augment endogenous hydrogen sulfide and inhibit pathologic calcification

open access: yesPharmacological Research
Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), a gasotransmitter naturally produced in the body by enzymes such as cystathionine γ lyase (CSE), helps reduce inflammation, oxidative stress, and abnormal tissue calcification.

Hydrogen sulfide and its role in female reproduction

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a gaseous signaling molecule produced in the body by three enzymes: cystathionine-β-synthase (CBS), cystathionine-γ-lyase (CSE) and 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (3-MST).

Exogenous H2S Regulates the Expression of Cystathionine Gamma-Lyase In HUVECs During Hypoxia

open access: yes, 2021
Cystathionine gamma-lyase (CSE) is one of the essential H2S-producing enzymes, and it regulates diverse functions in connection with cardiovascular function. It is crucial how exogenous H2S regulates CSE expression of the vascular endothelial cell during hypoxia.

Evaluation of Spermatogenesis, Sperm Function, and Enzymes Involved in the Trans-Sulfuration Pathway under the Influence of L-Cysteine, Taurine, and Vitamin B6 in Varicocele-Induced Rats [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Ardabil University of Medical Sciences
Background: Varicocele is one of the common causes of male infertility, associated with increased oxidative stress and damage to sperm DNA. This study aims to investigate the effects of L-cysteine, taurine, and vitamin B6 (LTB) on spermatogenesis, sperm ...
