Regulation of cystathionine γ‐lyase in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Yeast, 1991
AbstractRegulation of the two enzymes in reverse trans‐sulfuration was investigated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. In wild‐type strains, cystathionine γ‐lyase, but not cystathionine β‐synthase, was derepressed nearly 15‐fold if cells were starved for both inorganic and organic sulfur compounds. In a met17 strain which is defective of O‐acetylserine and O‐

Age-Dependent Allergic Asthma Development and Cystathionine Gamma-Lyase Deficiency

Antioxidants & Redox Signaling, 2017
Aims: The pathogenic mechanisms for the higher prevalence of allergic asthma in children than in adults have not been settled. The aim of the present study is to examine whether the age-dependent development of allergic asthma is caused by age-dependent expression of cystathionine gamma ...

Cystathionine gamma‐lyase aggravates periodontal damage in traumatic occlusion mouse models

Journal of Periodontal Research, 2020
AbstractBackground and objectiveThough impacts of traumatic occlusion (TO) on periodontal tissues and roles of cystathionine γ‐lyase (Cth) gene in the regulation of bone homeostasis have been studied by many, no consensus has been reached so far on whether TO deteriorates the periodontium and precise roles of Cth in occlusal trauma.

Suicide inactivation of bacterial cystathionine .gamma.-synthase and methionine .gamma.-lyase during processing of L-propargylglycine

Biochemistry, 1979
L-Propargylglycine, a naturally occurring gamma, delta-acetylenic alpha-amino acid, induces mechanism-based inactivation of two pyridoxal phosphate dependent enzymes of methionine metabolism: (1) cystathionine gamma-synthease, which catalyzes a gamma-replacement reaction in methionine biosynthesis, and (2) methionine gamma-lyase, which catalyzes a ...

P35 Exacerbation of the septic response in cystathionine-gamma-lyase deficient mice

Nitric Oxide, 2014
Previous studies reported both beneficial and detrimental roles of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in various models of critical illness. The goal of our study was to compare the outcome of septic shock in wild-type mice and in mice deficient in cystathionine-gamma-lyase (CSE).

[Expressions of cystathionine-beta-synthase and cystathionine-gamma-lyase in the corpus cavernosum smooth muscle of castrated rats].

Zhonghua nan ke xue = National journal of andrology, 2014
To study the expressions of cystathionine-beta-synthase (CBS) and cystathionine-gamma-lyase (CSE) in the corpus cavernosum smooth muscle of castrated rats and their roles in erectile dysfunction after castration. We randomly assigned 40 eight-week-old male SD rats to groups A (2-week sham-operation), B (4-week sham-operation), C (2-week castration) and ...

Human cystathionine gamma-lyase: developmental and in vitro expression of two isoforms.

The Biochemical journal, 2000
Cystathionine gamma-lyase (CGL) is the last enzyme of the trans-sulphuration pathway, which converts methionine into cysteine. To study the possible differences in enzymic activity of the two human cystathionine gamma-lyase isoforms characterized earlier, these were separately expressed in human kidney embryonic 293T cells.

Changes in cystathionine gamma-lyase levels in rat liver during lactation.

Biochemistry and molecular biology international, 1994
Rat liver cystathionine gamma-lyase activity increased rapidly with the onset of lactation, reaching a maximum value at week 2 and slowly decreasing thereafter. In non-lactating rats, from which the litters had been removed on the day of birth, the activity of this enzyme increased only minimally.
