Plasma creatine, estimated intramuscular creatine, transcellular gradient and the risk of mortality: Results from the PREVEND study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 56, Issue 1, January 2026.
Plasma creatine and intramuscular creatine concentrations were assessed using nuclear magnetic resonance and bio‐electrical impedance analysis in a general population‐based cohort (n = 5127). Cox‐regression analyses were performed to investigate associations with mortality.

Migraine and patent foramen ovale: correlation, coexistence, dependence. A narrative review

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, Volume 66, Issue 1, Page 307-321, January 2026.
Plain Language Summary This review looked at what scientists know about the connection between migraine and a small heart opening called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). All‐Trans Retinoic Acid Suppresses Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression via the CSTB/CYTB Axis

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 2, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Cystatin B (CSTB) is highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues and serum, indicating its potential as an early diagnostic biomarker. Given the known tumour‐suppressive effects of all‐trans retinoic acid (ATRA) in solid tumours, this study investigated whether ATRA inhibits HCC progression by modulating CSTB expression ...
