Physiological levels of shear stress alter the genetic programm of cultured endothelial cells and are associated with reduced cellular turnover rates and formation of atherosclerotic lesions in vivo. To test the hypothesis that shear stress (15 dynes/cm2)

Calpain‐2‐Mediated Endothelial Focal Adhesion Disruption in Thoracic Aortic Dissection
The elevated expression of Capn2 in endothelial cells activates focal adhesion signaling by cleaving Talin1 and assembling Itgav, which compromises the integrity of the endothelial barrier and induces vascular inflammation. Inhibition of calpain through both pharmacological and transgenic approaches has effectively suppressed the onset and progression ...

Dynamic Cap‐Mediated Substrate Access and Potent Inhibitor Design of Monkeypox Virus I7L Protease
The first crystal structure of MPXV I7L protease, revealing its unique dimeric form is resolved. The structures and MD simulations uncovered a dynamic cap region that regulates substrate access to the active site. The structural basis of substrate recognition and the catalytic mechanism are elucidated, which led to the development of a FRET‐based assay

Salmonella chemoreceptors McpB and McpC mediate a repellent response to L-cystine: a potential mechanism to avoid oxidative conditions [PDF]
Chemoreceptors McpB and McpC in Salmonella enterica have been reported to promote chemotaxis in LB motility-plate assays. Of the chemicals tested as potential effectors of these receptors, the only response was towards L-cysteine and its oxidized form, L-cystine.

EBBP expression is significantly upregulated in DOX‐treated cardiomyocytes. Mechanistically, EBBP interacts with GRP78 to mediate K63‐linked ubiquitination, thereby attenuating the inhibitory GRP78‐PERK interaction and triggering activation of the PERK‐mediated integrated stress response (ISR).
