Abstract Cytochalasin B (CB) at concentrations as low as 1 μg/ml inhibits phagocytosis of opsonized sheep erythrocytes by peritoneal macrophages. However, 50 μg/ml CB has no discernible effect on the pinocytosis of proteins. In the continuing presence of CB ingested proteins are degraded and released from macrophages in an apparently normal fashion ...

Biosynthetic assembly of cytochalasin backbone
Tetrahedron Letters, 2013Abstract Cytochalasins are an important class of fungal natural products in view of structural diversity and biological activities. Although their biosynthetic studies have been examined extensively, the detailed molecular assembly mechanism remains to be solved.

Cytochalasin binding in lymphocytes and polymorphonuclear leukocytes
Experimental Cell Research, 1976Abstract The binding of [3H]cytochalasin B (CB) to intact cells was compared in lymphocytes, polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNLs) and erythrocytes over a broad range of cytochalasin concentrations. Binding curves consistent with the presence of high and low affinity binding sites were demonstrated in all three cell types.

Induction of triploidy in the mouse by cytochalasin B
Development, 1975ABSTRACT Mouse eggs fertilized in vivo were treated with cytochalasin B in vitro (5 µg/ml of culture medium) at the moment of extrusion of the second polar body (2·5, 3·0, 3·5 h after copulation). Cytochalasin B inhibits cytokinesis of the second maturation division, so that triploid digynic eggs are formed in over 50% of treated eggs.

Towards the synthesis of cytochalasin B
1982Chapter I of this thesis deals with the syntheses of the key fragments for use in a proposed synthesis of cytochalasins A, B and F. The chiral precursor 86 of the macrocyclic fragment of the target molecules was prepared in good overall yield from (+)-citronellol using a new reagent which was developed for this purpose.
