Oxidative Rearrangements of the Alkaloid Intermediate Geissoschizine

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
19E‐geissoschizine is a key precursor in the biosynthesis of monoterpene indole alkaloids such as strychnine, ibogaine, and vinblastine. Using enzymatic assays and gene silencing, three CYPs were identified from C. roseus that oxidize this compound to four alkaloid scaffolds: strychnos, sarpagan, akuammiline, and mavacurane. Mutational analysis reveals

Atomic Symbiotic‐Catalyst for Low‐Temperature Zinc‐Air Battery

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A new “atomic symbiotic‐catalyst” system comprising single‐atom MNx and local sp3 carbon defects is proposed, which marries the advantages of typical single‐/dual‐atom catalysts while addressing their respective weaknesses, thus synergistically achieves high electrocatalytic activity and battery efficiency.

Supramolecular Gels as Active Tools for Reaction Engineering

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The unique combination of environments within gels, self‐assembled from low‐molecular‐weight gelators, offers the ability to control reactivity in new ways, achieving unique reaction outcomes, leading to the emerging concept of supramolecular gels as nanoreactors. Smart chemical engineering methods enable the use of such gels to fabricate materials and

A Hypoxia‐Triggered Bioreduction of Hydrophilic Type I Photosensitizer for Switchable In Vivo Photoacoustic Imaging and High‐Specificity Cancer Phototherapy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A hydrophilic type I phototherapeutic agent (NanoPcN8O) was developed which selectively responded to hypoxic tumor microenvironments and switched on type I photodynamic and photothermal effects as well as a photoacoustic signal for activatable photoacoustic imaging and tumor phototherapy.
