Cytomorphology in Tuberculous Lymphadenitis and Correlation With Acid Fast Bacilli Detection by Papanicolaou, Auramine‐Rhodamine Fluorescence and Ziehl‐Neelsen Techniques [PDF]
ABSTRACT Background Tuberculosis (TB) is a common cause of lymphadenopathy in developing countries. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) along with acid fast bacilli (AFB) detection is an invaluable diagnostic test. Fluorescent methods for AFB detection have greater sensitivity as compared to the Ziehl‐Neelsen (ZN) method. Methods The incidence of TB

Metastatic Malignant Granular Cell Tumor in the Lymph Node: A Cytological Report With Immunocytochemical Analysis [PDF]
ABSTRACT Granular cell tumors (GCTs) are relatively rare, whereas malignant GCTs are extremely rare. This brief report describes a cytological case of metastatic malignant GCT in the lymph node with immunocytochemical analysis. A 77 years old Japanese female with a history of surgical resection for malignant GCT in the back 8 years earlier presented ...

Primary Mediastinal Malignant Melanoma Presenting With Pleural Effusion: A Case Report [PDF]
ABSTRACT Background Primary mediastinal malignant melanoma (PMMM) presenting with pleural effusion as the initial manifestation is exceedingly rare, presenting significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. This article reports a case of PMMM that initially manifested as pleural effusion and includes a review of the relevant literature.

Meningeal Solitary Fibrous Tumor: A Cytological Report With Emphasis on the Usefulness of Immunocytochemical Analysis for STAT6 [PDF]
ABSTRACT Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are rare neoplasms characterized by spindle neoplastic cell proliferation within collagenous stroma and prominent dilated vasculature. They present a wide histopathological spectrum, ranging from hypocellular lesions with a rich collagenous stroma to hypercellular lesions with scant stroma.

We present here the effectiveness of hyperspectral imaging of Papanicolaou stained cells in the differential diagnosis between ASCs and other cell types. ABSTRACT Background Cervical cytology offers a relatively safe and reliable method for cancer screening, but the tests contain vague grading criteria, such as atypical squamous cells, and cannot ...

Cytodiagnosis of histoid leprosy
This paper presents cytomorphological features of the histoid variety of lepromatous leprosy. Fine needle aspiration of a lepromatous nodule showed cytological features consistent with those of histoid leprosy. Simultaneously, a biopsy of the nodule was also performed and the case confirmed as histoid leprosy.
