Age‐specific effectiveness of primary human papillomavirus screening versus cytology in a cervical cancer screening program: a nationwide cross‐sectional study

open access: yesCancer Communications, 2022
Background Primary human papillomavirus (HPV) screening is recommended for the detection of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) in the general population; however, the triage for HPV‐positive women remains a challenge.

Single‐Cell Transcriptomics Reveals ITGA2‐Mediated Metabolic Reprogramming and Immune Crosstalk in Pediatric Thyroid Carcinogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study unveils ITGA2⁺ tumor cells as key drivers of pediatric thyroid cancer aggressiveness. These cells orchestrate dual oncogenic pathways: GLUT1‐mediated glycolytic reprogramming and M2 macrophage polarization. This metabolic‐immunological crosstalk promotes tumor progression and metastasis.

Human Pluripotent Stem Cell Colony Migration Is Related to Culture Environment and Morphological Phenotype

open access: yesLife
Human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) are an important tool in the field of regenerative medicine due to their ability to differentiate towards all tissues of the adult organism.

Postpartum uterine diseases in dairy cows : a review with emphasis on subclinical endometritis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this review, updated and precise definitions of the most common postpartum uterine diseases in dairy cows are provided. An aberrant uterine environment at inappropriate stages of the reproductive cycle inflicts damage to gametes and zygotes, impairing

Nociceptive Nerve‐Derived CGRP Exacerbates Uterine Fibrogenesis in Adenomyosis by Promoting CD140b+ CD146+ Fibroblast Differentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates adenomyosis fibrosis in relation to nociceptive nerves. Nociceptive nerve‐secreted CGRP promotes RAMP1hi CD140b+ CD146+ fibroblast differentiation into myofibroblasts through ERK activation, causing severe fibrosis. Rimegepant‐induced CGRP/RAMP1 signaling blockade alleviates fibrosis and restores fertility in a mouse model. This

Distribution of human papillomaviruses and bacterial vaginosis in HIV positive women with abnormal cytology in Mombasa, Kenya [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: HPV is the major etiological factor in the causal pathway for cervical cancer, which is the leading cancer among women in sub-Saharan Africa. HIV is associated with a higher prevalence and a broader range of high-risk HPV genotypes.

Hepatic KLF9 Deficiency Inhibits Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)‐Induced Polycystic Ovary Syndrome via Liver‐Ovary Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study shows that liver is a previously unrecognized extraovarian organ that plays a key role about androgen homeostasis in the development of DHEA‐induced PCOS. DHEA is the most common precursor of active androgen, such as DHT, and KLF9 is required for the conversion of DHEA to DHT and hepatic KLF9 might be a potential therapeutic target for PCOS ...
