Refractory Status Epilepticus and Therapeutic Uncertainties: a Comprehensive Review on Targeting Neuroinflammation and Rationale for Developing a Platform Trial

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Refractory status epilepticus (RSE) is a life‐threatening neurological emergency with high rates of death and long‐term disability, but treatments for it are often based on limited evidence. RSE is now understood to involve neuroinflammation, which has led to the exploration of anti‐inflammatory and immunomodulatory agents like Tocilizumab. Traditional

Complications after medullary thyroid carcinoma surgery: multicentre study of the SQRTPA and EUROCRINE® databases

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
This study investigated postoperative complications after surgery for medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in Europe. Hypoparathyroidism, recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy and bleeding requiring reoperation occurred in 170 (26·2 per cent), 62 (13·7 per cent) and 17 (2·6 per cent) patients respectively.

FXYD3 Promotes Tumor Progression by Binding With IRF7 to Regulate JAK2/STAT5 Signaling in Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FXYD3 binds IRF7 via its 60–87aa domain, triggering a cGAS/STING‐mediated positive feedback loop amplified by type I interferon. This sustains JAK2/STAT5 activation, accelerating ICC progression. Targeting FXYD3 with siFXYD3@PEP suppresses tumors and enhances chemotherapy sensitivity. Abstract Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) has a poor prognosis,

Metabolic pathways and genes identified by RNA-seq analysis of barley near-isogenic lines differing by allelic state of the Black lemma and pericarp (Blp) gene

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2017
Background Some plant species have ‘melanin-like’ black seed pigmentation. However, the chemical and genetic nature of this ‘melanin-like’ black pigment have not yet been fully explored due to its complex structure and ability to withstand almost all ...

Cytological Classification Diagnosis for Thyroid Nodules via Multimodal Model Deep Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces AI‐TFNA, an innovative artificial intelligence model designed to assist cytopathologists in classifying thyroid nodules based on The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology (TBSRTC). The model effectively differentiates between benign and malignant thyroid nodules, demonstrating significant potential as a screening ...

A Transmembrane Protein WAI‐B2 Confers Multiple Disease Resistance in Wheat by Activating Autoimmunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Wheat production is under threat from multiple diseases. This study clones the wheat autoimmunity gene WAI‐B2 from an EMS‐induced mutant that encodes a distinct transmembrane protein conferring resistance to wheat rusts and powdery mildew ‐ two major diseases affecting wheat crops.

The effect of a single administration of streptozotocin on hippocampus metabolites in NODSCID mice

open access: yesВавиловский журнал генетики и селекции, 2018
The significant increase in the number of people diagnosed with diabetes mellitus in recent years makes studies of this problem topical. The persistent hyperglycemia accompanying the development and course of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) can affect ...
