Cytomixis and its role in the regulation of plant fertility

Russian Journal of Developmental Biology, 2013
UV and gamma irradiation of barley seedlings induces an increase in the number of various pathologies in the male reproductive system of plants. The majority of cytological abnormalities are rather nonspecific. The main type of the observed pathologies of microsporogenesis is cytomixis, whose activation correlates with a callose hypersecretion in ...

Cytomixis in Pollen Mother Cells of Spearmint (Mentha spicata L.).

CYTOLOGIA, 2003
Cytomixis was recorded during microsporogenesis in a tetraploid (2n=4x=48) genotype of spearmint (Mentha spicata L.), an aromatic plant of the family Lamiaceae. The phenomenon of cytomixis was observed in leptotene to pachytene stages of the first meiotic prophase. The migration of nuclear content involved all the chromosomes or part of the chromosomes

CYTOMIXIS IN POLLEN MOTHER CELLS OF ONONIS (LEGUMINOSAE)

Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology, 1978
Cytomixis occurred regularly in pollen mother cells (PMCs) of Ononis spinosa L., O. repens L. and O. arvensis L., from early meiotic prophase to telophase II. Usually only a few PMCs were affected in any anther, but occasionally whole anthers showed cytomictic patterns.

[Cytomixis, its nature, significance and the cytological consequences].

TSitologiia i genetika, 2012
Cytomixis is the widespread natural process of intercellular interaction which is characteristic for vegetative and generative tissues in both normal and pathological conditions. The origin significance and genetic control cytomixis still remain not completely clear.
