Compounds that enhance the tailing activity of Moloney murine leukemia virus reverse transcriptase

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
In a previous study, we showed that MMLV-RT has a strong terminal transferase activity, and that the C-, G-, and T-tailing activities are enhanced by dGMP, dCMP, and dAMP, respectively.

Fungal Antimicrobial Resistance: Mechanisms, Drivers, and Global Clinical Burden

open access: yesChemFoodChem, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fungal antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing concern for world health caused by an increase in multidrug‐resistant infections, an increase in environmental reservoirs, and the ineffectiveness of current antifungal treatments. Fungal infections continue to be largely excluded from AMR initiatives while causing over 1.6 million deaths ...

Editing of apolipoprotein B messenger RNA in differentiated Caco-2 cells.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
During the differentiation of human enterocytes, the secretion of apolipoprotein B is switched from the apoB-100 form seen almost exclusively in fetal cells to the apoB-48 form seen almost exclusively in adult cells.

Control of Gemcitabine Activity With Blue and Red Light

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Treating cancer with chemotherapy is generally associated with many side effects, which can be addressed by selectively releasing the desired drugs with visible light. Sixteen new blue light‐activatable cytostatics were introduced, with the gemcitabine derivative exhibiting ideal properties.

A Cytosine‑Bulged (3+1) Hybrid G‑Quadruplex Formed by the Chicken DNA Replication Origin

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The first high‐resolution structure of an OGRE‐derived G‐quadruplex from the chicken β‐globin replication origin reveals an intramolecular three‐layer (3+1) hybrid fold with a cytosine bulge and an unprecedented 5'‐outer‐quartet anti guanine, creating a distinctive surface for molecular recognition.

The relationship between gene traits and transcription in soil microbial communities varies by environmental stimulus [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ
Codon and nucleotide frequencies are known to relate to the rate of gene transcription, yet how these traits shape transcriptional profiles of soil microbial communities remains unclear.

Epigenetic Dysregulation of Somatostatin Receptors (SSTR) 1–5 and Therapeutic Implications in Neuroendocrine and Non‐Neuroendocrine Malignancies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Somatostatin receptors (SSTR) mediate the antiproliferative, antisecretory, and proapoptotic effects of somatostatin and its synthetic analogs. Their surface expression on neuroendocrine tumor (NET) cells is required for somatostatin analog therapy and radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT).

Factorization machine with quadratic-optimization annealing for RNA inverse folding and evaluation of binary-integer encoding and nucleotide assignment

open access: yesScientific Reports
The RNA inverse folding problem aims to identify nucleotide sequences that preferentially adopt a given target secondary structure. While various heuristic and machine learning-based approaches have been proposed, many require a large number of sequence ...

Strategies and mechanisms of precision genome engineering: From gene editing to genome writing

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
In this review, we examined the progression of genome manipulation from stochastic nuclease‐mediated cutting toward precise editing and programmable genome writing. We discussed tools like multi‐kilobase RNA‐guided integrators and Artificial Intelligence (AI)‐designed effectors and showed how these advances enable researchers to treat genomes as ...
