Suppressor‐Cytotoxic T‐Lymphocyte Panniculitis

Pediatric Dermatology, 1986
Abstract: A 3½‐year‐old girl had fever and nonsuppurative panniculitis. Biopsies revealed lobular lymphocytic panniculitis. An extensive evaluation of the patient for infectious and other systemic diseases yielded negative results. Although the number of peripheral T lymphocytes was normal, suppressor‐cytotoxic (0KT8) lymphocytes predominated in the ...

Cytotoxic T lymphocytes against HIV

AIDS, 1990
HIV-1 infection has clearly been shown to induce a vigorous CTL response in infected people, and this response is present at a time when immune function otherwise is globally impaired. HIV-1-specific CTL are detectable both in peripheral blood and tissues of infected people, and are aimed at multiple viral proteins.

Mechanoregulation of lymphocyte cytotoxicity

Nature Reviews Immunology
Cytotoxic lymphocytes counter intracellular pathogens and cancer by recognizing and destroying infected or transformed target cells. The basis for their function is the cytolytic immune synapse, a structurally stereotyped cell-cell interface through which lymphocytes deliver toxic proteins to target cells. The immune synapse is a highly dynamic contact

Cytotoxic lymphocytes.

Annals of clinical and laboratory science, 1987
Interactions between human lymphocytes and target cells are highly variable. Lymphocytes may enter fibroblasts, establish cytoplasmic bridges, and draw material through these bridges from the fibroblasts; these lymphocytes may undergo divisions within the fibroblasts, while the fibroblasts vacuolize and die.

Genetic defects affecting lymphocyte cytotoxicity

Current Opinion in Immunology, 2007
Cytolytic lymphocytes kill virus-infected cells as well as tumor cells by the exocytosis of the content of specialized secretory lysosomes at the immunological synapse (IS). Perforin and granzymes are the molecular effectors that induce rapid target cell death.

Endocytosis in cytotoxic T-lymphocytes

Cellular Immunology, 1981
Abstract Endocytosis in T lymphocytes was analyzed during their differentiation into cytotoxic effector cells in allogeneic mixed lymphocyte cultures. We found that endocytic activity increases from a very low value to reach a peak at Day 5, at which time the cytotoxic titer is highest in these cell cultures.

Cytotoxic T-lymphocytes.

Advances in internal medicine, 1988
Cytotoxic T-lymphocytes have received intensive scrutiny in the past decade, and have been implicated as important effector cells in diverse clinical settings. A variety of technological advances--the establishment of T cell clones, the production of MAb, the production of pure lymphokines through gene cloning, the modification of target cells by gene ...
