Fluorinated Nanocarbons Cytotoxicity

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2015
AbstractAs the research in nanotechnology progresses, there will eventually be an influx in the number of commercial products containing different types of nanomaterials. This phenomenon might damage our health and environment if the nanomaterials used are found to be toxic and they are released into the waters when the products degrade. In this study,

Granule-Mediated Cytotoxicity

1999
Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) represent the body’s primary line of defence against virus-infected and tumourigenic cells, and may play a role in autoimmune diseases and organ transplant rejection. CTLs are able to carry out their essential functions due to their ability to specifically recognize and destroy “foreign” cells.

Cytotoxic Hammerhead Ribozymes

Antisense and Nucleic Acid Drug Development, 1999
Small catalytic RNA molecules of the hammerhead ribozyme type were found to have cytotoxic effects unrelated to their intended activity. An expression library of ribozyme sequence variants was constructed in a recA-deficient strain of Escherichia coli such that individual library members differed in regions designed to form base pairs with human ...

Cytotoxic Leukocyte Reaction

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1980
Blood samples from 49 subjects were submitted to cytotoxic leukocyte tests, which were read double-blind by two laboratory technicians. The results were identical in 78% of the tests and the statistical error of the method was 0.46. In a group of 32 subjects, the cytotoxic test was repeated on 3 consecutive days.

Calreticulin in Cytotoxic Lymphocyte-Mediated Cytotoxicity

2003
New functions are implicated for calreticulin, based on its release from cytotoxic NK and T cells. Calreticulin is the only one of six “KDEL” (Lys-Asp-Glu-Leu carboxy terminal) endoplasmic reticulum chaperone proteins present in cytotoxic granules of these lymphocytes.

Cytotoxic Etherphospholipid Analogues

General Pharmacology: The Vascular System, 1998
1. Alkyllyso-derivatives of physiologic cell membrane phospholipids show remarkable cytostatic and cytotoxic activity on many malignant tumor cell lines and tumors in vitro and in vivo. Three of these etherphospholipid analogues have already been tested in clinical phase II studies and one of these compounds, hexadecylphosphocholine (HePC), is now ...
