Immunoregulatory mechanisms of the arachidonic acid pathway in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The central role of the arachidonic acid (AA) pathway in anticancer immunity. Enzymes and metabolites of the AA pathway can play both immunosuppressive and immunostimulatory roles in the tumor microenvironment. Therefore, their tailored targeting could be beneficial as a standalone therapy or in combination with current cancer immunotherapy.

Brake wear (nano)particle characterization and toxicity on airway epithelial cells in vitro [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Science: Nano 5, 1036 - 1044 (2018), 2018
Particulate air pollution results from different sources, among which those related to road traffic have a significant impact on human health. Combustion-derived particles emitted by thermal engines have been incriminated and are now better controlled.

Harnessing Soluble NK Cell Killer Receptors for the Generation of Novel Cancer Immune Therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The natural cytotoxic receptors (NCRs) are a unique set of activating proteins expressed mainly on the surface of natural killer (NK) cells. The NCRs, which include three members; NKp46, NKp44 and NKp30, are critically involved in NK cytotoxicity against

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Magnetofection potentiates gene delivery to cultured endothelial cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Modification of cellular functions by overexpression of genes is increasingly practised for research of signalling pathways, but restricted by limitations of low efficiency. We investigated whether the novel technique of magnetofection (MF) could enhance

The State of Peripheral Blood Natural Killer Cells and Cytotoxicity in Women with Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and Unexplained Infertility

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fertility and Sterility, 2019
Background The prognostic value of peripheral natural killer (pNK) cells, as a screening test in women with recur- rent pregnancy loss (RPL) and unexplained infertility, is still a matter for discussion.

The accumulation of myeloid‐derived suppressor cells participates in abdominal infection‐induced tumor progression through the PD‐L1/PD‐1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores how sepsis affects GC progression by creating an immunosuppressive environment. Our findings reveal that sepsis promotes immune dysregulation, enhancing tumor growth and metastasis. Targeting the PD‐1/PD‐L1 pathway with monoclonal antibodies shows potential for restoring immune function and improving outcomes in cancer patients ...

Comparison Study for Clonal Selection Algorithm and Genetic Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computer Science & Information Technology (IJCSIT) Vol 4, No 4, August 2012 pp 107-118, 2012
Two metaheuristic algorithms namely Artificial Immune Systems (AIS) and Genetic Algorithms are classified as computational systems inspired by theoretical immunology and genetics mechanisms. In this work we examine the comparative performances of two algorithms.

Polyfunctional CD8+CD226+RUNX2hi effector T cells are diminished in advanced stages of chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CD226+CD8+ T cells express elevated levels of RUNX2, exhibit higher proliferation capacity, cytokines and cytolytic molecules expression, and migratory capacity. In contrast, CD226−CD8+ T cells display an exhausted phenotype associated with the increased expression of co‐inhibitory receptors and impaired effector functions.
