Dynamics of revolving D-branes at short distances

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We study the behavior of the effective potential between revolving Dp-branes at all ranges of the distance r, interpolating r » ls and r « ls (ls is the string length).

BPS D-branes from an Unstable D-brane [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2005
We search for exact tachyon kink solutions of DBI type effective action describing an unstable D-brane with worldvolume gauge field turned in both the flat and a curved background. There are various kinds of solutions in the presence of electromagnetic fields in the flat space, such as periodic arrays, topological tachyon kinks, half kinks, and bounces.

D-branes and Closed String Field Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We construct BRST invariant solitonic states in the OSp invariant string field theory for closed bosonic strings. Our construction is a generalization of the one given in the noncritical case.

Hanany-Witten transition in quantum curves

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
It was known that the U(N )4 super Chern-Simons matrix model describing the worldvolume theory of D3-branes with two NS5-branes and two (1, k)5-branes in IIB brane configuration (dual to M2-branes after taking the T-duality and the M-theory lift ...

(p − 1)-bracket for Dp-branes in large R-R field background

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
The volume-preserving diffeomorphism is a key feature that characterizes the large constant R-R (p − 1)-form field background in a Dp-brane theory. It represents a symmetry of the theory that preserves the volume of space.

Conifolds from D-branes [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1998
In this note we study the resolution of conifold singularity by D-branes by considering compactification of D-branes on $\C^3/(\Z_2\times\Z_2)$. The resulting vacuum moduli space of D-branes is a toric variety which turns out to be a resolved conifold, that is a nodal variety in $\C^4$. This has the implication that all the corresponding phases of Type-

`Blowing up' D-branes on Non-supersymmetric Cycles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
In the orbifold limit of K3, one can give exact conformal field theory description of D-branes wrapped on certain non-supersymmetric cycles of K3. We study the effect of switching on the `non-geometric blow up modes' corresponding to anti-symmetric ...

Open exceptional strings and D-branes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We study D-branes in the extended geometry appearing in exceptional field theory (or exceptional generalised geometry). Starting from the exceptional sigma model (an E d(d) covariant worldsheet action with extra target space coordinates), we define open ...

Dynamical Cobordism Conjecture: solutions for end-of-the-world branes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We analyze finite size solutions for a generalized D-dimensional Dudas-Mourad (DM) model featuring dynamical cobordism with neutral and charged end-of-the-world (ETW) defect branes.

Coleman meets Schwinger [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
It is well known that spherical D-branes are nucleated in the presence of an external RR electric field. Using the description of D-branes as solitons of the tachyon field on non-BPS D-branes, we show that the brane nucleation process can be seen as the ...
