A note on the open string pair production of the D3/D1 system
We here report a possibility of detecting the open string pair production from the system of a D3 brane, taken as our own (1 + 3)-dimensional world and carrying its worldvolume collinear electric and magnetic fluxes, and a nearby D-string, placed ...

Anomalous U(1) gauge bosons as light dark matter in string theory
Present experiments are sensitive to very weakly coupled extra gauge symmetries which motivates further investigation of their appearance in string theory compactifications and subsequent properties.

D4-branes wrapped on a spindle
We construct supersymmetric solutions of D = 6 gauged supergravity, where is a two-dimensional orbifold known as a spindle. These uplift to solutions of massive type IIA supergravity using a general prescription, that we describe.

Twisted D-branes of the SU(N)_K WZW model and level-rank duality [PDF]
We analyze the level-rank duality of omega_c-twisted D-branes of SU(N)_K (when N and K>2). When N or K is even, the duality map involves Z_2-cominimal equivalence classes of twisted D-branes.

Magnetically-enhanced open string pair production
We consider the stringy interaction between two parallel stacks of D3 branes placed at a separation. Each stack of D3 branes in a similar fashion carry an electric flux and a magnetic flux with the two sharing no common field strength index.

World-volume dynamics of D-branes in a D-brane background [PDF]
We study the embedding of D(8-p)-branes in the background geometry of parallel Dp-branes for $p\le 6$. The D(8-p)-brane is extended along the directions orthogonal to the Dp-branes of the background. The D(8-p)-brane configuration is determined by its Dirac-Born-Infeld plus Wess-Zumino-Witten action. We find a BPS condition which solves the equation of

Delocalized, non-SUSY $p$-branes, tachyon condensation and tachyon matter [PDF]
We construct non-supersymmetric $p$-brane solutions of type II supergravities in arbitrary dimensions ($d$) delocalized in one of the spatial transverse directions.

Geometry of orientifold vacua and supersymmetry breaking
Starting from a peculiar orientifold projection proposed long ago by Angelantonj and Cardella, we elaborate on a novel perturbative scenario that involves only D-branes, together with the two types of orientifold planes O ± and anti-orientifold planes O ¯

We study various aspects of D-branes in the two families of closed N=2 strings denoted by \alpha and \beta in hep-th/0211147. We consider two types of N=2 boundary conditions, A-type and B-type. We analyse the D-branes geometry.
