Higher derivative terms are computed in the one-loop effective action governing the interactions of D3-branes, in two ways: (1) in a formalism with N=2 supersymmetry preserved off-shell, and (2) in the standard background field formalism, with only on-shell supersymmetry.

Open exceptional strings and D-branes
We study D-branes in the extended geometry appearing in exceptional field theory (or exceptional generalised geometry). Starting from the exceptional sigma model (an E d(d) covariant worldsheet action with extra target space coordinates), we define open ...

We include in F-theory, through open Type I F-theory branes (F-branes), string theories with N = 1 supersymmetry, both Type I and heterotic. Type I branes are distinguished from Type II by worldvolume parity projection.

Geometry of orientifold vacua and supersymmetry breaking
Starting from a peculiar orientifold projection proposed long ago by Angelantonj and Cardella, we elaborate on a novel perturbative scenario that involves only D-branes, together with the two types of orientifold planes O ± and anti-orientifold planes O ¯

The realization of higher-dimensional breaking mechanism
We study D-branes on Calabi-Yau threefolds, which are realized through the blowing up the singularity of orbifold. This D-branes are represented as sheaves, which can be stable or unstable, what is connected with the transition in the Teichmüller space ...

Dynamical Cobordism Conjecture: solutions for end-of-the-world branes
We analyze finite size solutions for a generalized D-dimensional Dudas-Mourad (DM) model featuring dynamical cobordism with neutral and charged end-of-the-world (ETW) defect branes.

This is an exposition of recent progress in the categorical approach to D-brane physics. I discuss the physical underpinnings of the appearance of homotopy categories and triangulated categories of D-branes from a string field theoretic perspective, and with a focus on applications to homological mirror symmetry.

Disformally coupled cosmologies arise from Dirac-Born-Infeld actions in Type II string theories, when matter resides on a moving hidden sector D-brane. Since such matter interacts only very weakly with the standard model particles, this scenario can provide a natural origin for the dark sector of the universe with a clear geometrical interpretation ...

Non-relativistic D-brane from T-duality along null direction
We construct new type of non-relativistic D-branes which are defined with the help of T-duality along null direction. We find Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulation of these D-branes and study their properties under T-duality transformations.
