Holography of D-brane reconnection [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2007
Gukov, Martinec, Moore and Strominger found that the D1-D5-D5' system with the D5-D5' angle at 45 degrees admits a deformation "rho" preserving supersymmetry. Under this deformation, the D5-branes and D5'-branes reconnect along a single special Lagrangian manifold.

Noncommutative gauge theories on D-branes in non-geometric backgrounds

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We investigate the noncommutative gauge theories arising on the worldvolumes of D-branes in non-geometric backgrounds obtained by T-duality from twisted tori.

Multiverse in Karch-Randall Braneworld

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
In this paper, we propose a model based on wedge holography that can describe the multiverse. In wedge holography, we consider two gravitating baths, one of which has strong gravity and the other one has weak gravity.

The Fabrication of Superhydrophobic Coatings Using Food‐Grade Wax Dispersions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A method is presented for creating superhydrophobic materials using a simple mixture of food‐grade wax and solvent. By varying the solubility and dispersibility of the wax as the solvent is replaced, superhydrophobic coatings can be achieved on different substrates using spray coating.

D-brane actions [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1996
Effective world-brane actions for solitons of ten-dimensional type IIA and IIB superstring theory are derived using the formulation of solitons as Dirichlet branes. The one-brane actions are used to recover predictions of SL(2,Z) strong-weak coupling duality. The two-brane action, which contains a hidden eleventh target space coordinate, is shown to be

Zoborg: On‐Demand Climbing Control for Cyborg Beetles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel on‐demand climbing protocol enables Zoborg (a cyborg beetle from the living Zophobas morio) to seamlessly transition from horizontal floors to vertical walls. Multiple unrestrained mechanosensors allow wall sensing while electrical stimulation of the elytron initiates climbing. Leveraging the agile locomotion and exceptional adaptability of the

Anomalies and D-branes in the Dabholkar-Park background

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We consider D-branes in the Dabholkar-Park (DP) background, a 9d orientifold theory obtained by gauging symmetry in the type IIB string theory compactified on a circle.
