Cloning of the D-lactate dehydrogenase gene from Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus by complementation in Escherichia coli. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A strain of Escherichia coli (FMJ144) deficient for pyruvate formate lyase and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was complemented with a genomic DNA library from Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus.

Unraveling the epigenetic code in cancer cell–tumor microenvironment crosstalk

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Epigenetic regulation is a key driver of cancer development and progression. Diverse epigenetic alterations in cancer cells and components of the tumor microenvironment (TME) orchestrate their communication through multiple mechanisms. We discuss how the epigenetic code coordinates bidirectional cancer cell–TME crosstalk to promote cancer progression ...

Induction of alcohol dehydrogenase and lactate dehydrogenase in hypoxically induced barley

open access: yes, 1989
In barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) are induced by anaerobiosis in both aleurone layers and roots.

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

Production of d-lactate from glucose using Klebsiella pneumoniae mutants

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories, 2017
Background d-Lactate is a valued chemical which can be produced by some bacteria including Klebsiella pneumoniae. However, only a few studies have focused on K.

Using Unnatural Protein Fusions to Engineer a Coenzyme Self-Sufficiency System for D-Phenyllactic Acid Biosynthesis in Escherichia coli

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2021
The biosynthetic production of D-penyllactic acid (D-PLA) is often affected by insufficient supply and regeneration of cofactors, leading to high production cost, and difficulty in industrialization.

Evolution of D-lactate dehydrogenase activity from glycerol dehydrogenase and its utility for D-lactate production from lignocellulose

open access: yes, 2011
Lactic acid, an attractive, renewable chemical for production of biobased plastics (polylactic acid, PLA), is currently commercially produced from food-based sources of sugar.

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

Serum markers as an aid in the diagnosis of pulmonary fungal infections in AIDS patients

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2017
Introduction: The etiology of pulmonary infections in HIV patients is determined by several variables including geographic region and availability of antiretroviral therapy.

D-Lactate dehydrogenase as a marker gene allows positive selection of transgenic plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
d-Lactate negatively affects Arabidopsis thaliana seedling development in a concentration-dependent manner. At media d-lactate concentrations greater than 5-10 mM the development of wild-type plants is arrested shortly after germination whereas plants ...
