Drying off the dairy cow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Most dairy cows generally have a non-lactating, “dry period” prior to parturition. As the milk production of dairy cows has increased dramatically during the last decades, cows managed conventionally with a 12 to 13 month-calving interval are dried off ...

Estimating Daily Yields of Cows Milked Three Times a Day

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1986
Factors to estimate daily yield from one or two sampled milkings of cows milked three times a day were derived with data for 21 mo from seven Pennsylvania herds and data for 1 yr from five Utah herds. Accuracy of estimation increased with number of milkings weighed; standard deviation of error was nearly halved when information was included from two ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Feeding sainfoin to goats – influence on milk and cheese quality and yield [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Although the administration of sainfoin is associated with anthelmintic effects, information on the consequences of feeding this legume on product quality is scarce. In the present study we looked at milk quality and yield of goats fed either sainfoin or

Genetic evaluation of fertility using direct and correlated traits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Poor fertility has become a major reason for involuntary culling of dairy cows in the United Kingdom. Calving interval (CI) and body condition score (BCS) are recorded, heritable, genetically correlated with each other, and could be used to extend the ...

Variability and Interrelationships of Composition and Yield of Daily Milk Samples

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1964
Summary Analysis of data from 2,052 milk samples, taken from randomly selected Jerseys, Holsteins, and Guernseys during six consecutive days, resulted in day-to-day repeatability estimates of 0.46 to 0.62 for fat content, and 0.75 to 0.95 for milk 0yield and contents of SNF, protein, chloride, acidity, and pH.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Lactation curves for milk yield, fat and protein content in Slovenian dairy sheep

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2012
Lactation curves for daily milk yield, fat, and protein content in three dairy sheep breeds were estimated by the repeatability animal model using test-day records.

Studies on restricted suckling in dual purpose and dairy breed cattle in Mexico [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The aim of this thesis was to investigate the effects of rearing calves by restricted suckling (RS) compared to artificial rearing (AR) in dual purpose and dairy breed cattle in Mexico, milked once or three times a day, respectively.
