Polymer‐in‐Cage Strategy for Pore Tuning of High‐Aspect Ratio ZIF Nanoplate: Toward Sub‐Micrometer‐Thick Large Area CO2 Separation Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A “polymer‐in‐cage” strategy transforms a zinc‐acrylate copolymer into an active pore‐modulating agent for ZIF‐8 nanoplates. The polymer actively tunes the MOF's pore structure by anchoring within its windows, while the nanoplates create tortuous pathways.

Quantification and Localisation of New Brain Lipid Synthesis Using Deuterium Oxide and High Resolution Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry and mass spectrometry imaging were used in combination with deuterium oxide administration to quantify and localise newly synthesised myelin lipids in the mouse brain. This methodology, used here to show sites of myelin repair, enables the measurement of dynamic lipid synthesis in living systems and ...

Comparison Study of Two Methods Used to Estimate Surface Runoff Hydrograph for Small Basins

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2014
In this study Rainstorm hydrograph peak discharge and unit-hydrograph peak discharge in small basins were calculated and evaluated using various methods for peak discharge assessment applying 6-hour storm rainfall duration. Rainfall-runoff models: HEC-

Future large hydropower dams impact global freshwater megafauna [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Dam construction comes with severe social, economic and ecological impacts. From an ecological point of view, habitat types are altered and biodiversity is lost.

Phosphatidic Acid‐TRIM59‐Olig2 Signaling Couples Metabolic Dysfunction to Myelination Failure in PWMI

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PA accumulates after hypoxic‐ischemic injury and stabilizes the E3 ligase TRIM59 in OPCs. Stabilized TRIM59 enhances ubiquitination and degradation of Olig2, blocking differentiation and causing hypomyelination in PWMI. Modulating PA synthesis restores Olig2 levels, improves myelination, and ameliorates behavioral deficits, defining a metabolically ...

Safety Assessment of Concrete Gravity Dams: Hydromechanical Coupling and Fracture Propagation

open access: yesGeosciences
For the safety assessment of concrete dam–foundation systems, this study used an explicit time-stepping small-displacement algorithm, which simulates the hydromechanical interaction and considers the discrete representation of the foundation ...

Metarhizium anisopliae Mitigates the Phytotoxicity of Lead and Nanoplastics on Rice by Modifying Physiological, Transcriptomic, Metabolomic Activities, and Soil Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metarhizium anisopliae alleviates the phytotoxic effects of polyethylene nanoplastics (NP) and lead (Pb) in rice by decreasing Pb uptake, restoring antioxidant and hormonal equilibrium, and promoting growth. Additionally, the fungus modifies the rhizosphere microbiota, enhancing both contaminant tolerance and plant growth, thereby effectively ...

Jamming-Resistant Learning in Wireless Networks

open access: yes, 2013
We consider capacity maximization in wireless networks under adversarial interference conditions. There are n links, each consisting of a sender and a receiver, which repeatedly try to perform a successful transmission.
