Axion quark nugget dark matter model: Size distribution and survival pattern [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2019
We consider the formation and evolution of Axion Quark Nugget dark matter particles in the early universe. The goal of this work is to estimate the mass distribution of these objects and assess their ability to form and survive to the present day.

Indirect Evidence for Dark Matter Density Spikes around Stellar-mass Black Holes

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
It has been suggested for a long time that dark matter would form a density spike around a black hole. However, no promising evidence has been observed so far to verify this theoretical suggestion.

MC2: CONSTRAINING THE DARK MATTER DISTRIBUTION OF THE VIOLENT MERGING GALAXY CLUSTER CIZA J2242.8+5301 BY PIERCING THROUGH THE MILKY WAY [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The galaxy cluster CIZA J2242.8+5301 at z = 0.19 is a merging system with a prominent (∼2 Mpc long) radio relic, which together with the morphology of the X-ray emission provides strong evidence for a violent collision along the north–south axis.

Dark Matter Distribution in Nearby Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2004
We present results obtained from a study of the mass distribution of 24 galaxies observed using Fabry-Pérot techniques, as part of the GHASP survey (see Russeil et al., this meeting). For each galaxy, we combined high resolution Hα rotation curves derived from 2-D velocity fields, with low resolution HI data, in order to determine accurately the inner ...

Estimating Dark Matter Distributions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2005
Thanks to instrumental advances, new, very large kinematic datasets for nearby dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxies are on the horizon. A key aim of these datasets is to help determine the distribution of dark matter in these galaxies. Past analyses have generally relied on specific dynamical models or highly restrictive dynamical assumptions.

Distribution of phantom dark matter in dwarf spheroidals [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2020
We derive the distribution of the phantom dark matter in the eight classical dwarf galaxies surrounding the Milky Way, under the assumption that modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND) is the correct theory of gravity. According to their observed shape, we model the dwarfs as axisymmetric systems, rather than spherical systems, as usually assumed.

Shapley supercluster survey: mapping the dark matter distribution [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2020
ABSTRACT We present a 23 deg2 weak gravitational lensing survey of the Shapley supercluster core and its surroundings using gri VST images as part of the Shapley Supercluster Survey (ShaSS). This study reveals the overall matter distribution over a region containing 11 clusters at z ∼ 0.048 that are all interconnected, as well as several

Anisotropic dark matter distribution functions and impact on WIMP direct detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Dark matter N-body simulations suggest that the velocity distribution of dark matter is anisotropic. In this work we employ a mass model for the Milky Way whose parameters are determined from a fit to kinematical data.

Impact of relativistic corrections on the detectability of dark-matter spikes with gravitational waves [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2022
Black holes located within a dark matter cloud can create overdensity regions known as dark matter spikes. The presence of spikes modifies the gravitational-wave signals from binary systems through changes in the gravitational potential or dynamical ...
