Trap‐Modified Inverted Organic Photodetectors via Layer‐by‐Layer Processing with Poly(N‐vinylcarbazole) Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Trap state engineering in inverted organic photodetectors (OPDs) is achieved via combined layer‐by‐layer (LbL) processing and poly(N‐vinylcarbazole) (PVK) incorporation. LbL reduces the trap density while PVK additives gradually shift trap states from shallow band‐edge to deep mid‐gap levels, tailoring the energy distribution.

Kv3 channel agonist ameliorates the phenotype of a mouse model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

open access: yesActa Neuropathologica Communications
Voltage-gated potassium channels, Kv3.1, Kv3.2, Kv3.3, and Kv3.4, facilitate rapid repolarization and shape action potentials, which are crucial to maintaining high-frequency firing.

Spaced antenna drift [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
It has been suggested that the spaced antenna drift (SAD) technique could be successfully used by VHF radars and that it would be superior to a Doppler-beam-swinging (DBS) technique because it would take advantage of the aspect sensitivity of the ...

Selection Strategies for Flexible Pressure Sensor Electrode Materials Toward Ultrafast Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reveals, for the first time, how the electrode–organic interface governs the temporal performance of flexible pressure sensors. By pairing high‐conductivity CVD PEDOT with commonly used metal electrodes, the authors demonstrate that interfacial energy alignment dictates microsecond‐scale response, providing a straightforward design strategy ...

Human Trafficking and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court

open access: yesAge of Human Rights Journal, 2014
The case for extending the reach of the Rome Statute to the crime of human trafficking has not yet been made in detail. The brutality which occurs when human beings are trafficked by criminal gangs is of an equally egregious nature as the other crimes ...

Deep brain stimulation is well tolerated and effective following ProSavin® gene therapy for Parkinson's disease

open access: yesNeurotherapeutics
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder initially treated with oral dopaminergic medications. When motor fluctuations and side effects develop on these treatments, Deep Brain stimulation (DBS) of the subthalamic nucleus (STN) is used ...

A distance-type measure approach to the analysis of copy number variation in DNA sequencing data

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2019
Background The next generation sequencing technology allows us to obtain a large amount of short DNA sequence (DNA-seq) reads at a genome-wide level. DNA-seq data have been increasingly collected during the recent years.

Controlled Movement of Soft Actuators using Multi‐Responsive Microgel Arrays and Microcirculatory Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microscale hydrogels (microgels) feature improved mass transport characteristics supportive of fast actuation and chemical tunability amenable to programmed stimuli response. A unique soft actuator architecture is realized by encapsulating microgels in soft microcirculatory systems which enable the convenient delivery of liquid stimuli for powering and

RNA‐Micelles as Self‐Assembling Structures for Efficient Co‐Delivery of Synergistic siRNA and Nucleoside Analogues to Treat CRC Lung Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two kinds of self‐assembled RNA micelles were used to co‐deliver synergistic siRNA and nucleoside analogues for the treatment of colorectal cancer lung metastases. Near‐complete elimination of lung cancer metastases was confirmed in an orthotopic lung metastasis model constructed using human colorectal cancer lung metastases patient surgical samples to

Target Selection Recommendations Based on Impact of Deep Brain Stimulation Surgeries on Nonmotor Symptoms of Parkinson′s Disease

open access: yesChinese Medical Journal, 2015
Objective: This review examines the evidence that deep brain stimulation (DBS) has extensive impact on nonmotor symptoms (NMSs) of patients with Parkinson′s disease (PD).
