Guidelines for preparation and flow cytometry analysis of human nonlymphoid tissue DC

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 55, Issue 1, January 2025.
We here provide detailed protocols for isolating single cell suspension from human nonlymphoid tissues, such as gingiva, lung, intestine, skin, and different tumor tissues as well as tumor‐draining lymph nodes. Further, we provide gating strategies for flow cytometric analysis of human DC subpopulations in diverse nonlymphoid tissues.

Design Rules for the Nano‐Bio Interface of Nanodiamonds: Implications for siRNA Vectorization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 30, July 24, 2024.
The study presents a non‐viral vector for siRNA based on nanodiamond coated with a novel copolymer with tunable charge density. The properties of the vector are optimized by several physicochemical variables and polymer composition, and correlated with biological efficacy, cytotoxicity, and cell proliferation.

The Power of Synergism: A Novel Drug Combination for Improved Therapy of Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2024.
The study identified the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway as crucial for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) progression, leading to a hypothesis of combining disulfiram (DSF) and 7‐ethyl‐10‐hydroxycamptothecin (SN‐38) for effective therapy. This combination showed significant synergy. It increased ROS production and inhibited GBM cell functions.

A Comparison of Spectral Preprocessing Methods and Their Effects on Nutritional Traits in Cowpea Germplasm

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 6, Issue 2, June 2024.
ABSTRACT Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. (Walp)) is a multipurpose legume, which has good nutritional properties. Nutritional parameters assessed conventionally can be labour intensive, costly and time taking for germplasm screening. Near‐infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) is a rapid and nondestructive method, which can facilitate high‐throughput ...

Relationship between equine herpesvirus‐1 viremia and abortion or equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy in domesticated horses: A systematic review

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 38, Issue 3, Page 1872-1891, May/June 2024.
Abstract Background Equine herpes virus type 1 (EHV‐1) infection in horses is associated with upper respiratory disease, neurological disease, abortions, and neonatal death. Objective To determine if there is an association between the level and duration of EHV‐1 viremia and either abortion or equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy (EHM) in ...

Viremia and nasal shedding for the diagnosis of equine herpesvirus‐1 infection in domesticated horses

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 38, Issue 3, Page 1765-1791, May/June 2024.
Abstract Background Equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV‐1) infection is associated with upper respiratory disease, EHM, abortions, and neonatal death. Research Questions Are nasal secretions a more sensitive biological sample compared to blood for the detection of EHV‐1 infection? How long is EHV‐1 detectable after primary infection by PCR?

Hepatic steatosis in people older and younger than fifty who are living with HIV and HIV‐negative controls: A cross‐sectional study nested within the POPPY cohort

open access: yesHIV Medicine, Volume 25, Issue 1, Page 95-106, January 2024.
Abstract Background Hepatic steatosis is a major cause of chronic liver disease associated with several negative health outcomes. We compared the prevalence of and factors associated with steatosis in people living with and without HIV. Methods Older (>50 years) and younger (<50 years) people with HIV and older HIV‐negative controls (>50 years ...
