Persistent Localization of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles Using Visual Perception of Artificial Landmarks

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Persistent localization is a critical requirement for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) engaged in long-term missions. Conventional dead-reckoning (DR) methods for estimating the position and orientation of AUVs often suffer from drift, necessitating

An optimal innovation based adaptive estimation Kalman filter for accurate positioning in a vehicular ad-hoc network

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, 2021
The vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) is subject to various attacks because of its dynamic nature and ephemeral character. In VANET, vehicles communicate with each other for safety awareness.

Late medieval churchwardens' accounts and parish government : looking beyond London and Bristol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This contribution reviews a number of contested issues in the historiography of the late medieval English parish. In contrast to views expressed by Clive Burgess in a recent article in this journal, it is argued that the reliability of churchwardens ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Understanding the performance of zero velocity updates in MEMS-based pedestrian navigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Zero Velocity Update (ZUPT) is an important update to aid an autonomous inertial pedestrian navigation. The objectives of this paper are to briefly revisit the concept of ZUPT and its importance, testing it on real walking pedestrian and comparing its ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Towards the development of an autonomous navigation system for unmanned vessels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper discusses the implementation of an intelligent navigation system for an autonomous unmanned surface vessel (USV). The focus is developing a multiple sensor data acquisition and fusion system to provide accurate and continuous information on

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
