A Case Study on Formal Verification of Self-Adaptive Behaviors in a Decentralized System

open access: yes, 2012
Self-adaptation is a promising approach to manage the complexity of modern software systems. A self-adaptive system is able to adapt autonomously to internal dynamics and changing conditions in the environment to achieve particular quality goals.

Photothermal Macroporous Lignin Cryogels for Off‐Grid, Continuous Atmospheric Water Collection via Interlayer Heat Recovery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Photothermal, macroporous lignin‐based cryogels are engineered to convert sunlight into low‐grade heat. Integrated as stacked beds in a drum‐type device, a thin copper interlayer transfers waste heat between beds, enabling interlayer heat recovery and continuous solar cycling.

Fractional Power Control for Decentralized Wireless Networks

open access: yes, 2007
We consider a new approach to power control in decentralized wireless networks, termed fractional power control (FPC). Transmission power is chosen as the current channel quality raised to an exponent -s, where s is a constant between 0 and 1.

Optimal Control of Two-Player Systems with Output Feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this article, we consider a fundamental decentralized optimal control problem, which we call the two-player problem. Two subsystems are interconnected in a nested information pattern, and output feedback controllers must be designed for each subsystem.

A Proximal Diffusion Strategy for Multi-Agent Optimization with Sparse Affine Constraints

open access: yes, 2019
This work develops a proximal primal-dual decentralized strategy for multi-agent optimization problems that involve multiple coupled affine constraints, where each constraint may involve only a subset of the agents.

Multifunctional Fluidic Units for Emergent, Responsive Robotic Behaviors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional reconfigurable fluidic unit can be used as sensor, valve and actuator is presented. A unique configuration combines the features of the three components as a Responsive self‐oscillating actuator. The remarkable versatility of the fluidic unit is demonstrated by building different robots with the same fluidic units only by varying ...

Decentralized collaborative transport of fabrics using micro-UAVs

open access: yes, 2018
Small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have generally little capacity to carry payloads. Through collaboration, the UAVs can increase their joint payload capacity and carry more significant loads.
