ABSTRACT The ability of organisms to effectively respond to challenges is critical for survival. We investigated how an acute stressor affected corticosterone, mitochondrial function, and DNA oxidative damage in a wild population of Leach's storm‐petrels (Hydrobates leucorhous).

Baroreflex function in conscious rats submitted to iron overload [PDF]
Our hypothesis is that iron accumulated in tissue, rather than in serum, may compromise cardiovascular control. Male Fischer 344 rats weighing 180 to 220 g were divided into 2 groups.

The role of iron in normal and impaired testicular function
Abstract Iron plays a critical role in testicular physiology, impacting spermatogenesis, testosterone production, and overall testicular function. Iron homeostasis is maintained through systemic and cellular regulatory mechanisms, including hepcidin‐mediated systemic iron control and the iron‐responsive element/iron regulatory protein (IRE/IRP) system ...

This study aimed to evaluate transferrin receptor (TfR) expression in human esophageal squamous cell cancer (ESCC) specimens and investigate the correlation between TfR overexpression and clinicopathological characteristics. Furthermore, we explored the potential of targeting iron metabolism pathways as a novel therapeutic strategy for ESCC.

Toward optimizing the use of deferasirox: potential benefits of combined use with deferoxamine
Patients with β-thalassemia require iron chelation therapy to protect against progressive iron overload and non-transferrin-bound iron. Some patients fail to respond adequately to deferoxamine and deferasirox monotherapy while others have side effects ...

LCN2 mediates the suppression of C2C12 myoblast proliferation and myotube formation via erastin‐induced ferroptosis. Mechanistically, the LCN2‐ACOD1 axis regulates skeletal muscle growth via mitochondria‐associated ferroptosis, providing a theoretical basis for the prevention and therapy of muscle‐related diseases.
