Revealing Cryptic Parasite Diversity in a Definitive Host: Echinostomes in Muskrats
Journal of Parasitology, 2012Many trematode groups have a long history of systematic revision, which can make parasite identification a difficult task. The trematode parasites of muskrats are no exception. Here, we highlight the systematic issues associated with trematodes of muskrats (Ondatra zibethicus).

Immunology and pathology of echinostome infections in the definitive host.
2008This chapter examines the salient literature on the immunology and pathology of members of the family Echinostomatidae in their definitive hosts, with emphasis on experimental studies that may provide useful information on factors that determine resistance to the parasites.

The immune response of the definitive hosts to diphyllobothriid antigens.
Angewandte Parasitologie, 1990It was established that antigens of diphyllobothriids entered the organisms of nestlings of gulls (Larus fuscus) and terns (Sterna hirundo) through the intestine. In terns, the most intensive neutralization of parasite antigens was found in the intestine inducing a weak response of the immune system.
