Deformation in Moffat Shale detachment zones in the western part of the Scottish Southern Uplands [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A study of the décollement zones in the Moffat Shale Group in the Ordovician Northern Belt of the Southern Uplands of Scotland reveals a progressive sequence of deformation and increased channelization of fluid flow.

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

A Cold-Pressing Method Combining Axial and Shear Flow of Powder Compaction to Produce High-Density Iron Parts

open access: yesTechnologies, 2019
Highly performance methods for cold pressing (cold die forging) of preforms from iron powder with subsequent heat treatment and producing ready parts made of powder are described in the paper.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Strain dependency of dynamic recrystallization during thermomechanical processing of Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Zr alloy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
The microstructure and microtexture of an extruded and annealed GWZ (Mg-8.2Gd-3.6Y-1.6Zn-0.5Zr, wt.%) magnesium alloy was recorded strain by strain in the course of thermomechanical processing.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.
