Friction Analysis on Scratch Deformation Modes of Visco-Elastic-Plastic Materials [PDF]
Understanding of abrasion resistance and associated surfaces deformation mechanisms is of primary importance in materials engineering and design. Instrumented scratch testing has proven to be a useful tool for characterizing the abrasion resistance of ...

An advanced meshless technique for large deformation analysis of metal forming [PDF]
The large deformation analysis is one of major challenges in numerical modelling and simulation of metal forming. Although the finite element method (FEM) is a well-established method for modeling nonlinear problems, it often encounters difficulties for ...

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Excitations in the deformed D1D5 CFT [PDF]
We perform some simple computations for the first order deformation of the D1D5 CFT off its orbifold point. It had been shown earlier that under this deformation the vacuum state changes to a squeezed state (with the further action of a supercharge).

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Well-rounded equivariant deformation retracts of Teichm\"uller spaces [PDF]
In this paper, we construct spines, i.e., $\Mod_g$-equivariant deformation retracts, of the Teichm\"uller space $\T_g$ of compact Riemann surfaces of genus $g$.

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Shock demagnetization in an ambient magnetic field at the Dhala impact structure, India
Impact-generated shock waves can modify the remanent magnetization preserved in target rocks, yet their effects remain poorly constrained. Here we examine how shock waves modify rock magnetization by analysing unshocked granitoids and diorites, and shock-

Development of deformation-tunable quadrupolar microcavity
We have developed a technique for realizing a two-dimensional quadrupolar microcavity with its deformation variable from 0% to 20% continuously. We employed a microjet ejected from a noncircular orifice in order to generate a stationary column with ...
