Degradation of Azo Dyes by Laccase and Ultrasound Treatment [PDF]
ABSTRACT The goal of this work was to investigate the decomposition of azo dyes by oxidative methods, such as laccase and ultrasound treatments. Each of these methods has strong and feeble sides. The laccase treatment showed high decolorization rates but cannot degrade all investigated dyes (reactive dyes), and high anionic strength led to ...

Mechanochemical treatment for degradation of ciprofloxacin (CIP) in solutions
Abstract Ciprofloxacin (CIP) is a kind of widely used fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and the widespread presence of CIP in aquatic environment has become a serious issue. Mechanochemical treatment (MCT), as an effective approach to degrade persistent organic pollutants, has many advantages of low cost, simplicity, and being environmentally ...

This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Induced sputum MMP-1, -3 & -8 concentrations during treatment of tuberculosis. [PDF]
INTRODUCTION: Tuberculosis (TB) destroys lung tissues and this immunopathology is mediated in part by Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs). There are no data on the relationship between local tissue MMPs concentrations, anti-tuberculosis therapy and sputum ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Thermal stabilities of inosine monophosphate-degrading enzymes in several fish muscles
The compositions and inosinic acid contents of ATP-related compounds in various processed fish meat products were examined in this study. Moreover, the relationships between these variables and the heating processes used on the products were investigated.

Stepwise Degradation of Poliovirus Capsid by Alkaline Treatment
Summary The kinetics of the liberation of protein components from purified poliovirus was examined under varying alkaline pH conditions at 40°. The proteins of the liberated components and of the virus capsid were analysed by sucrose gradient centrifugation and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Amino Acid Degrading Enzymes and Autophagy in Cancer Therapy
Recently, there has been renewed interest in metabolic therapy for cancer, particularly in amino acid deprivation by enzymes. L-asparaginase was approved for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Arginine
