Recent evidence demonstrates that activated eosinophils undergo a distinct form of lytic cell death, accompanied by formation of DNA‐based eosinophil extracellular trap (EET) and degranulation, enhancing inflammatory immune responses in asthmatic airways.

Myeloperoxidase Stimulates Neutrophil Degranulation
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2016Myeloperoxidase, heme enzyme of azurophilic granules in neutrophils, is released into the extracellular space in the inflammation foci. In neutrophils, it stimulates a dose-dependent release of lactoferrin (a protein of specific granules), lysozyme (a protein of specific and azurophilic granules), and elastase (a protein of azurophilic granules).

Basophil degranulation control
International Journal of Bio-Medical Computing, 1992We first present a global simulation model describing inhibition of human basophil degranulation by means of high dilutions. Then we study an optimal control problem associated to a non-linear compartmental model. This control is associated to an antigen concentration. For solving this control problem we used a dynamic programming method.

Control of basophil degranulation
International Journal of Bio-Medical Computing, 1993We first present a linear compartmental model describing human basophiol degranulation by means of an antigen concentration. Then we study an optimal control problem associated to this linear compartmental model in presence of high dilutions. For solving this control problem we used the LAPLACE transform.

Markers of Mast Cell Degranulation
Methods, 1997Mast cells are the primary effector cells of immediate hypersensitivity reactions in humans. Upon mast cell activation both preformed and newly synthesized mediators are secreted. Histamine can be measured by fluorometric assays, radioenzymatic assays, and immunoassays.

Basophil degranulation assay has gained importance over the last decade in both diagnosis of food allergy and evaluation of progression of immunotherapy. This assay involves the identification and quantification of the expression of CD63 molecule on basophil membrane. CD63 is a marker of multivesicular bodies that is exposed to cell membrane during the

A method is described for the quantitative monitoring of human eosinophil degranulation using interference contrast microscopy. Using staphyloccoci as a stimulus, degranulated cells appeared larger than nondegranulating cells, were ameboid in shape and exhibited large nude areas of cytoplasm with prominent nuclei.

Measuring Degranulation of Mast Cells
Current Protocols in Immunology, 1993AbstractThis unit describes methods for measuring exocytosis of preformed mediators from secretory granules as an indication of IgE receptor‐mediated activation of mast cells. The first basic protocol describes the measurement of biogenic amines (serotonin and histamine) secreted by activated rodent mast cells (for serotonin) or rodent and human mast ...

SummaryA new, simplified method of degranulating human platelets using the thrombin receptor peptide SFLLRN (20 |iM) is described; released fibrinogen cannot be converted to fibrin, and the platelets are not exposed to a proteolytic enzyme, as they are when thrombin is used for degranulation.
