Performance testing of a cross-flow membrane-based liquid desiccant dehumidification system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A membrane-based liquid desiccant dehumidification system is one of high energy efficient dehumidification approaches, which allows heat and moisture transfers between air stream and desiccant solution without carryover problem. The system performance is

Advances in Floating Solar Desalination Systems

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, EarlyView.
This review critically classifies floating solar desalination systems into five main categories and compares their thermal performance, productivity and technological limitations. Membrane‐based and multieffect systems showed the highest efficiencies, while traditional designs remain limited by heat losses and scaling.

Effect of Prolonged Dehumidification on the Chemical Properties of Crassiacarpa and Mangium Honey

open access: yesBiology, Medicine & Natural Product Chemistry
Honey is a natural substance bees produce from nectar, flower sap, or liquid collected from living plant parts. The honey undergoes bee modification and binding before being stored in hexagonal combs.

A Comprehensive Review of Waste‐Derived Materials for Solar Still Performance Enhancement

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 9, 5 May 2026.
Solar desalination reduces energy use and produces freshwater sustainably, but its productivity is limited and cannot meet rising demand. Thus, solar desalination system improvements are sought to boost water productivity. Waste materials are abundantly available and burden the environment, making them low‐cost enhancers for solar desalination systems.

Scaling up Battery‐Electrode Drying from Lab to Pilot Scale: Match the Drivers, Not the Set Points

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2026.
Ramping up electrode production for lithium‐ion batteries is challenging, as drying parameters from lab or pilot machines often fail to transfer to industrial dryers. A physics‐based model couples air‐condition and drying behavior to predict drying kinetics.

Desiccant Dehumidification Performance Lessons

open access: yesEnergy Engineering, 2003
ABSTRACT Desiccant dehumidification is primarily a non-residential end-use technology that can be important to certain commercial businesses such as restaurants, hotels, grocery stores and hospitals; in public buildings such as courthouses, jails, and auditoriums; and in manufacturing sectors such as pharmaceuticals and microelectronics.

Synergistic Enhancement of Modified‐PVDF Humidity Sensitivity via Chemical Adsorption‐Ionic Conductivity and its Application in Intelligent Powered Air‐Purifying Respirator

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
The study developed a PVDF/SiO2 humidity sensor with superhydrophobic properties and integrated the humidity sensor into the intelligent powered air‐purifying respirator (IPAPR) for breath monitoring. Coupled with the Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) machine learning prediction algorithm, it enables feedforward control of the fan to achieve respiratory ...
