There are two functional Omega class glutathione transferase (GST) genes in humans. GSTO1 is polymorphic with several coding region alleles, including an A140D substitution, a potential deletion of E155 and an E208K substitution.

Low-intensity light stress on broccoli seedlings: associated mechanisms of acclamatory stress tolerance through changes in pigments, membrane lipids, and amelioration of antioxidative defense systems [PDF]
Low-intensity light (LL; 100 µmol m–2 s–1PPFD) effects on growth and biochemical parameters indicative of acclimation were investigated on 21-day-old broccoli seedlings. LL stress reduces the biomass and thickness of the leaf.

[[abstract]]Glutaredoxins (Grxs) play important roles in the reduction of disulfides via reduced glutathione as a reductant. A cDNA (503 bp, EU193660) encoding a putative Grx was cloned from Taiwanofugus camphorata (Tc).

Molecular analysis of monodehydroascorbate reductase and dehydroascorbate reductase in plants
Oxidative stress is an inevitable phenomenon in green plants because they generate toxic reactive oxygen species. Through normal metabolism plants produce copious amount of molecular oxygen in cellular organelles that carry out highly energetic electron ...

Purification of NADPH-dependent dehydroascorbate reductase from rat liver and its identification
Rat liver cytosol has been found to reduce dehydroascorbic acid (DHAA) to ascorbic acid in the presence of NADPH. The enzyme responsible for such activity has been purified by ammonium sulphate fractionation, DEAE-Sepharose, Sephadex G-100 SF and ...

We previously described in the rat the presence of dehydroascorbate reductase, an enzyme regenerating ascorbic acid, which is constantly lost during oxidative processes occurring at a fast rate within the central nervous system.

Dehydroascorbate (DHA) reductase (DHAR, EC 1.8.5.1) catalyzes the reduction of DHA to reduced ascorbate (AsA) using glutathione (GSH) as the electron donor in order to maintain an appropriate level of ascorbate in plant cells.
