Human prostatic dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate sulfatase

Steroids, 1973
Because of the evidence of adrenal steroid support of normal prostate growth and perhaps in the exacerbation of prostatic carcinoma and in consideration of the large pool of such material, conjugated with sulfate in the blood stream, measurements were made of the prostatic concentration of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfatase and factors which might affect

Serum Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate in Cushing's Syndrome*

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1984
Serum concentrations of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S) were measured in patients with hyperadrenocorticism. When compared to normal subjects of corresponding age, serum DHEA-S levels were normal or elevated in 37 patients with Cushing's disease.

Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate Treatment for Atrichia pubis

Hormone Research in Paediatrics, 2001
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of oral dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) treatment for atrichia pubis in female adolescents. Study Design: Two XY female adolescents with 17-hydroxylase deficiency and 2 XX females with panhypopituitarism presenting with atrichia pubis were treated with a daily dosage of ...

A radioimmunoassay for serum dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate

Steroids, 1972
Abstract A radioimmunoassay for serum dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) (1) has been developed using anti-DHEA antiserum obtained by immunizing rabbits with DHEA-17 oxime-bovine serum albumin. Serum volume of 0.01 to 0. 1 ml was used for analysis.

Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate and Induction of Labor

American Journal of Perinatology, 1989
Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHAS) has been shown to promote cervical ripening. We have investigated the effect of DHAS administration on the onset of spontaneous labor and delivery in 92 normal primiparous patients. We also investigated the effect of DHAS administration on the induction of labor with oxytocin at term in 47 normal primiparous ...

Prolactin modulation of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate secretion

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1980
To clarify the controversy about the effect of prolactin (PRL) on dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S), this study was undertaken to investigate the effects of alterations in plasma PRL on plasma DHEA-S concentrations in hyperprolactinemic women, as well as in normal male subjects.

Dehydroepiandrosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone-sulfate, and cortisol concentrations in intensive care unit patients

Critical Care Medicine, 2001
This purpose of this study was to determine whether severity of illness, as defined by the intensive care unit (ICU) admission APACHE II (updated Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation) score, is correlated with early morning cortisol, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), and/or dehydroepiandrosterone-sulfate (DHEA-S) concentrations.Early morning ...

Radioimmunoassay of Plasma Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate

Analytical Letters, 1972
Abstract This report describes a radioimmunoassay method for the direct measurement of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S) in diluted plasma. Utilizing a specific DHEA-S antiserum which reacted completely with DHEA, we have measured DHEA-S accurately in small aliquots of diluted plasma.

Binding of Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate to Serum Albumin

Endocrinology, 1962
Quantitative data on the binding of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate to bovine serum albumin are presented, and the nature of the linkage is discussed. The observed value for the association constant in Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate buffer indicates that the steroid sulfate probably is present in blood largely in a bound condition.

Plasma Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate in Nursing Home Men

Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, 1990
Previous studies have shown the normal range of plasma dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) for independent community men over 60 years old to be 30–200 μg/dL. In human adults, low levels of plasma DHEAS have been correlated with a high mortality rate.
