The Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complexes: Structure-based Function and Regulation*
The pyruvate dehydrogenase complexes (PDCs) from all known living organisms comprise three principal catalytic components for their mission: E1 and E2 generate acetyl-coenzyme A, whereas the FAD/NAD+-dependent E3 performs redox recycling. Here we compare

Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Regulation of 3β-Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase/∆5-∆4 Isomerase: A Review [PDF]
This review focuses on the expression and regulation of 3β-hydroxysteroi ddehydrogenase/Δ5-Δ4 isomerase (3β-HSD), with emphasis on the porcine version. 3β-HSD is often associated with steroidogenesis, but its function in the metabolism of both steroids ...

Study of the Action of Smoke on Alcohol Dehydrogenase, Lactic Dehydrogenase and Malate Dehydrogenase Enzymes [PDF]
AbstractThe aim of this study is to acquire better knowledge of the action of the whole smoke and the vapour phase on alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), and malate dehydrogenase (MDH). The method developed provides that smoke comes into direct contact with the various enzymatic solutions without any preventive extraction, as in ...

Targeting aldehyde dehydrogenase 2: new therapeutic opportunities.
A family of detoxifying enzymes called aldehyde dehydrogenases (ALDHs) has been a subject of recent interest, as its role in detoxifying aldehydes that accumulate through metabolism and to which we are exposed from the environment has been elucidated ...

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

The pivotal role of pyruvate dehydrogenase kinases in metabolic flexibility
Metabolic flexibility is the capacity of a system to adjust fuel (primarily glucose and fatty acids) oxidation based on nutrient availability. The ability to alter substrate oxidation in response to nutritional state depends on the genetically influenced

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Sheep liver cytosolic aldehyde dehydrogenase : a fresh perspective : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Chemistry at Massey University, New Zealand [PDF]
The pre-steady-state mechanism of aldehyde dehydrogenase has been further investigated using synthesised deuterated 4-trans-(N,N-dimethylamino) cinnamaldehyde as a substrate.

Isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 codon 132 mutation is an important prognostic biomarker in gliomas.
PURPOSE Unexpected mutations affecting the isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH1) gene at codon 132 have been found in 12% of glioblastomas. PATIENTS AND METHODS IDH1 codon 132 sequencing was performed in a series of 404 patients with glioma (100 grade 2, 121
