Necessary and sufficient conditions for the oscillation of delay differential equation with a piecewise constant argument

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1998
The characteristic equation for an equation with continuous and piecewise constant argument in the form x˙(t)+px(t−τ)+qx([t−k])=0    where  p, q∈ℜ, τ∈ℜ+and  k∈ℵ is presented, which when q=0 reduces to f(λ)=λ+e−λτ=0 and when p=0 reduces to λ−1+qλ−k=0 ...

Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

Targeting transcription factors associated with hemoglobinopathies: Lessons from successful interventions and implications for cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the transcription factors, repressive chromatin‐modifying complexes, and epigenetic mechanisms that control fetal hemoglobin repression. Notably, many regulators of γ‐globin silencing also function in transcriptional and epigenetic networks that drive cancer, highlighting opportunities to translate advances in hemoglobinopathy ...

Some Theorems of Uncertain Multiple-Delay Differential Equations

open access: yesAxioms
Uncertain differential equations with a time delay, called uncertain-delay differential equations, have been successfully applied in feedback control systems.

Analysis of stability for stochastic delay integro-differential equations

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2018
In this paper, we concern stability of numerical methods applied to stochastic delay integro-differential equations. For linear stochastic delay integro-differential equations, it is shown that the mean-square stability is derived by the split-step ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

$C^1$-smooth dependence on initial conditions and delay: spaces of initial histories of Sobolev type, and differentiability of translation in $L^p$

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2019
The objective of this paper is to clarify the relationship between the $C^1$-smooth dependence of solutions to delay differential equations (DDEs) on initial histories (i.e., initial conditions) and delay parameters. For this purpose, we consider a class

Noncontinuable Solutions of Differential-Delay Equations [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1969
(4) F I is bounded on [to, T] X C" for each to, T and each A > 0. Condition (4) usually holds for equations that appear in the literature. It is stated here to emphasize that the theory of continuability of solutions can be fairly natural when (4) is assumed: Let x be a noncontinuable solution on [to, T) of (1), where to-q Rd is continuous.
