Correlating non-linear behavior of in-plane magnetic field and local domain wall velocities for quantitative stress evaluation

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
There is a need in industry to supply safe, effective and reliable technique to characterize the stress of steel components and structures, both at the manufacturing stage and in service.

Beyond power laws: Universality in the average avalanche shape

open access: yes, 2010
We report the measurement of multivariable scaling functions for the temporal average shape of Barkhausen noise avalanches, and show that they are consistent with the predictions of simple mean-field theories.

Alternating field demagnetizer for rock magnetism studies

open access: yes, 1973
The design of solenoids with inside radii of 4 or more cm and capable of producing alternating fields of a few thousand oersted is given. It is shown that, to produce such high fields, large wire sizes are required, the ohmic resistance being the main determining factor of the field attainable. A multi-layer solenoid (5.

Ediacara Obscura: Unveiling Hidden Magnetisations in the Fen Complex, Southern Norway

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Paleomagnetic directions found in Ediacaran (635–539 Ma) rocks are widely dispersed, which has led to conflicting hypotheses about tectonic regimes and geomagnetic field behavior during this period, and raised doubts about the fidelity of the paleomagnetic record.

Effects of in-plane magnetic fields and energy analysis during the control of antiskyrmion formation [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
In this study, we perform micromagnetic simulations to investigate phase transitions in antiskyrmion-hosting systems under the application of combined out-of-plane and in-plane magnetic fields via controlled sample tilting.

Post‐Eocene 90° CCW Rotation of Sardinia‐South Corsica: Paleomagnetic Evidence From Permian‐Cretaceous Sediments of Nurra (NW Sardinia)

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract The paleomagnetism of Miocene calc‐alkaline volcanics and sediments from Sardinia has firmly showed that the Corsica‐Sardinia microplate rotated 50°–60° counterclockwise (CCW) with respect to Europe between 21 and 15 Ma, during its drift from the Provencal margin. However, Permian to Eocene rocks from central‐south Sardinia revealed higher (up

Observations of the Magnetopause Reconnection Ion Diffusion Region With High‐Density O+ Ions During the May 2024 Superstorm

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Abstract Based on high‐resolution measurements from NASA's Magnetospheric Multiscale mission (MMS), we present the first direct observation of an ion diffusion region (IDR) with high number density O+ ions within dayside magnetopause reconnection during the May 2024 superstorm. The O+ ion density reaches a high value of ∼3.3 cm−3.
