Anti-Acanthamoebic properties of resveratrol and demethoxycurcumin
Experimental Parasitology, 2012Acanthamoeba is an opportunist protist pathogen that is known to infect the cornea to produce eye keratitis and the central nervous system to produce fatal granulomatous encephalitis. Early diagnosis, followed by aggressive treatment using a combination of drugs is a prerequisite in successful treatment but even then, prognosis remains poor due to lack

Demethoxycurcumin and its Semisynthetic Analogues as Antitubercular Agents
Planta Medica, 2008Demethoxycurcumin, isolated from the rhizomes of Curcuma longa, was found to possess antitubercular activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H (37)Rv strain at 200 microg/mL. Derivatisation of this active principle yielded a potent agent 6, exhibiting considerable activity with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value of 7.8 microg/mL.

Isocratic reversed phase high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method using RP C18 column was developed for simultaneous determination of the curcuminoids. Mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile:0.1% trifluro-acetic acid (50:50) and flow rate was 1.5 mL min−1 and elution was monitored at 420 nm.
